hey guys ,is it just me or are we seeing an unacceptable amount of problems coming from the big three,like premature engine failures , electrical problems ,fires ,i mean the reason we buy new is so we lessen the chances of having problems in the back country .it almost seems that in a race to be the best ,durability is taking a back seat and riders are jumping from ship to ship and back to find something they dont have to drag out of the bush .I guess if the manufacturer comes good for it AND pays the recovery price ,its all good .I have friend that bought a 2010 skidoo and he got 11km's before it burn't to the ground ,now seasons midway and he cant ride .I've loaned him one of my 670's, he once said they were a good sled in their day ,could of really had a good come back lol. Anyways hopefully all the manufacturers clue in and realize that their customers are their best source of advertising and not the fancy tv ads

Funny. At least most polaris sleds make 400km before they grenade. My Acrtic crap made 34.

That being aside, for the amount of money that we pour into sleds these days, how fast they depreciate, and what we get we're getting fawked compared to 10 years ago.

I rode the living crap out of my 99 xc 700 and it only got towed out three times. First time I jetted wrong, second time I ran out of gas, and third time I was so impatient to give it a beating I cold siezed it.

Yup it was heavier. Funny thing was I never really minded the weight for sidehilling or riding. The only times i wanted lighter was for hillclimbing or when I was stuck.
But because it was heavier it took the beating I gave it. My HCR needed new rails after I dropped 6 feet onto a creek. And I ride way way more tame than I used to!

My 09 hcr has been towed out more in 400kms of riding than my 99 xc 700 did in 7 years of hell thrashing riding style.

Yup Dean I'll agree we're getting fawked. And you know what? We're going to keep getting fawked until someone else enters the sled market and makes something better for less. Because we're not all going to stop snowmobiling. That just won't happen until the government shuts us down. So why would the manufactures care? They know our choices are limited so they can keep fawking us as much as the other manufactureres do and not lose drastic sales. We'll need to keep replacing the junk they sell us.

oops i did omit yamaha as being the fourth,however the main attractions seem to be the north american made machines .I haven´t heard a whole lot of stuff on yamaha except the weight factor but alot of people turbo them to overcome that,so if they have an engine failure well not really yammi`s problem .ive been around sleds all my life,rode snojets before kawasaki got involved ,rupps,any body remember chapparel if thats how its spelled ,anyways im showing my age lol back on subject .My friends 2010 skidoo that burnt after 11km apparently was a fuel leak after stopping for a break .I suspect its a pdi issue and there fore not a fault of bombardiier .I ride skidoo but there older and have yet to have any complaints so far ,i ride with friends that have the other THREE brands lol ,we go to have fun and anticipate all getting back safely.

I owned several sleds in the early seventies. Comparing their ride, power, endurance, handling etc. to a modern sled is like comparing a 386 computer to a modern one. Sleds
have come a long way, trust me. I presently ride a 800 Etec 163 and love it. The price has gone way up but so has the value of what you get!

its isolated issues you hear about. no one posts there good luck.

its about maintenance and checking over your sled before you ride. running good oils, proper warm up..and the list goes on.

we all ride new sleds and beat the chit out of them day in and day out not one has been dragged out.

on my 10 i have 5100km and on my friends 09 he has 5000 aswell. never put a dime into them yet. just take care of your stuff and make sure its in good working order before you ride. simple things can happen on a NEW sled that can make it burn to the ground.

a 2 minute checkover before you bomb down the trail at the beggining of the day can save you alot of hassle.

well put.i keep my machines in tip top shape and even lift the hood during a rest to have a gander at things or look for things that will turn into major problems ,murphys law , gotta try and stay one step ahead of it lol.I run a marine business and boats are in the same league keep it maintained or your asking for trouble.
