#72?? Hmmmmm
Well I know it's not Kenny Benson (he was #19)
OK I give.
Who the $%^ are you? lol
:beer::)

Sorry but I left the oval racing scene in the early 80s soon after I left Swan Hills. (just as the twin tracks started to dominate at the Wold Series in Waldhiem that year...) so perhaps I was before or after your time?

I raced pretty much from 1972-1985 and wore NWSA bibs #10 and #80 and and in the final few years I raced a couple Sno-Jets and Merc Twisters as well as a 440 SSR Yamaha that we eventually converted to a 540 Sprinter. I ran it last in 1986 in Red Deer (Sylvan), crashed it, and havnt really raced ovals since.

But we have ouselves a young experienced Champ driver, a great team of local peeps, and besides the 90 twin-tracker are rebuilding a derelict 81 offset Moto-Ski for the vintage IFS class (and likely a '72 1-lunger for the mechanics race) for the Beasejour 50. It has front end damage and has a very "tired" 250 thus we are in dire need of chassis parts (skis, spindles, arms, rods etc) as well as cylinders and pistons even if they are just candidates for nikasil or rechroming.
So please if you have anything that you wish to get rid of (for a fair price of course) please feel free to contact me.

PS> A while back we set up a web page for the NWSA on Facebook in an attempt to locate people for a potential NWSA reunion sometime in the near future. They had one in 2000 that was very well attended and received so think we are due...

I'll check next time I'm down at the shop to see whats left around there. I see Lorne all the time as he is my brother in law. He is the Viterra ag manager in Milo right now.:d:beer:
I used to see Lorne all the time as I m a trainer for GM and Lorne used to work for the dealer in Vulcan. I also see Bratko once in a while too as he worked as scooter tech for the City of Calgary cops and thus he comes in for various "updating" traning as well. (Havnt seen him for a while though, but I hear he has still working on some local drag sleds)

Just this spring I ran into Eddie Mitton (remember, Buster Dehaan's wrench?) as he should up at my GM training facility. He works as a trannie tech for a dealer in Sherwood Park. Man, I relly enjoyed reminiscing with him. Unfortunately Buster and Jasper are no longer with us but we had some great times tromping around the country with those guys back in th day...

PS> Here's the 1990 A-arm Twin Tracker as we found it. It was originally one of Dale Loritz' sleds. The 340 RAVE is being rebuilt and we have a set of the "new" glass (93?) going on it for Beausejour though...
(but it's in GREAT shape compared to the '81 250 lol)

I used to race against Buster in the sprint class. Sorry to hear he passed. I still see Len the odd time and Ken. They still do some ice drags in the winter around western Canada and the US.:d:beer:

Is that the sled he won Eagle with? I'm surprised you were able to find new glass for it. Don't break it!:d

Hey Ken (now that I know who you are- it was driving me nuts lol)

No, actually the Eagle winner was a slightly newer chassis, a 93 I believe. Basically identical though, except for the glass. Dale donated that sled to the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in Wisconsin.

We're hoping to restore the original glass to Dale's white & black paint scheme and numbering, then having the 93 glass (just a re-pop btw) painted to original factory yellow so the sled can rock out either way. It is in amazing shape as the guy Dale sold it too repainted it and apparently only raced it once before his wife supposedly got it in a divorce. Kevin stumbled upon it on Craigslist, made an offer (sort of surprisingly accepted) and had it brought up here via U-ship in March. I think he sleeps with it! LOL

Anyways, well have to get together and catch up sometime!!

Sounds like you really lucked out on the glass. I gotta do some digging for my old race parts manuals and then see what is left over there. I'll try and work on it this week before I go on holidays. If not the 1st of Aug for sure.:d:beer:

Hey Kathy, since it's kinda green and warm outside you guess should scan a bunch of those old oval racing pictures from revy some rainy evening! It would be quite entertaining for us grey power guys! lol

Haven`t forgot bout it!! Haven`t made it down there. Here are a few more from the album we did for the 40th anniversary.

Well that's a good sign that Lenny is smiling, and Ken must still have a few cheques left for racing!!! That's some serious racing history in that one picture.
