Anyone know of a good place to get a sled starter rebuilt? It is off a 1988 Yamaha Inviter 300. Appears that the starter is shot - and of course Yamaha wants $585 for a new starter.......

Had a bright idea to just get it rebuilt. Or I guess I could look at the wreckers - but when I tried to get one for an old Phazer I had - that was near impossible.

Usually there are numbers located on the barrel of the starter. If you can let me know the numbers or even a yamaha part number. I can source one for you.

I don't know if this helps but the alternator and starter depot in Calgary would prob do it for a pretty decent price. They have always been pretty good to me?

I had one rebuilt at Westlock Auto Electric. 200$ versus the new price from skidoo of $500. They do excellent work there.
