Electric start

So just pulled the sled out of summer storage pulled it over twice and started it. i installed the battery which is fully charged turned the key over and ta da nothing .

checked all the wires and connectors everything looks good. Just wanted to know if anyone out there who rides a 13-800 pro has ever had this problem.Would appreciate any suggestions ? Thanks. Let it snow.

You said you looked at the wiring. Did you check actual battery voltage? And voltage at the starter? Is there an in line fuse?

Not to sure if there is an inline fuse or not still doing a little research.the battery tested at 12v going to check what its at on the starter tomorrow. Thanks for reply.Going to look to see if there is a fuse or not to.

I just had a look at the wiring diagrams for a 12 pro. I think they are the same. Anyway, there is a circuit breaker in the wire harness to the starter solenoid. Have you tried to simply tap the starter with a small hammer? Maybe the solenoid is stuck. It has been sitting a while and probably has seen some moisture throughout the summer months.

Hook up a volt meter to the battery and push the start button and see what the voltage drops to, I don't think it should drop much lower than 9v. If it does try boosting it, if that works your battery is toast.

If if not check to make sure you have 12v at the starter, if not check fuses or inline circuit breaker like stated above.

If you have 12v at the starter then you will need the wiring diagram and check that it's getting a start signal, will be a smaller wire on the starter.

If if everything checks out then your starter is done.

Im gonna say it's probably battery or fuse related though as the starter shouldn't die just sitting over summer.

This would be my guess too. I had the exact same thing happen on a Polaris quad. Tapping it with a hammer it would start but other than that it didn't do anything when I pushed the button.

Hi there , yea checked everything out all good. The battery is testing at 12v. and 12v at the starter. I jumped the solenoid and the starter kicked in right away. just not getting a signal from the key to the solenoid. I'm guessing it is most likely an inline fuse. would you happen to know where the inline fuse is located ? Can't seem to find it.Appreciate it .

Not sure where the fuses is but if you can find both ends of the wires use a ohm meter. It would tell you if you hav a open circuit

Check the small red wire on the circuit breaker near your starter solenoid.

If you can find a service manual that would help a lot but it can be figured out with out it as well.

Just check what color wire it is at the solenoid and find that same one on the ignition switch and check it with an ohm meter to make sure you have continuity through the wire and no short to ground or open.

If the wire is ok then i would unplug it from the ignition switch and put a jumper to 12v (assuming that's what it sees when the key is in start position) and see if the starter cranks. If it does then you have a faulty ignition switch.

Thanks everyone for the input. Well it ended up being a small black ground wire that connects to the resistor that sits beside the solenoid, the wire was broken at the end where it connects to the spade plug.It was under neither all the battery wiring tough to see it unless you lft all your wiring out. Well easy fix and the price was right.lol most of the time it usally is the smallest things.Thanks again sled heads.

Hey Nedo. Glad you figured this out. I heard your message last week, just hadn't gotten a chance to ring you back yet. I was going to say use some contact cleaner in the ignition tumbler cause I have been having problems with my circuit always being closed and the engine not shutting off when the key is turned off.
