I saw this coming.... lithium harvested by unethical means around the world... lots of child slavery etc.

The production of electrical vehicles is at risk of hitting a standstill because of lack of lithium supplies. Electrical vehicle manufactures did not predict that the higher demand in lithium would cause a problem this early in the process. By the year 2020, the use of electrical vehicles will grow to almost three per cent with around a 10 per cent increase by 2025, according to financial services firm Morgan Stanley. Lithium is key in the making of rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles. Over the past few years lithium has been in higher demand and that will continue to grow with no increase in sight for lithium supplies. This could turn into a big problem for the pace of EV production, said a recent report. With higher demand in the market, many lithium companies are seeing their share prices rising significantly with more demand for new resources. This could slow down the market even more so and serious strain on EV car makers. Market watchers predict that the massive increase in demand brought on by automakers, power storage systems and new applications will create a potential significant shortfall by 2020, according to USA News Group.

Ha, ha! So much for the leaf lickers and they're get off fossil fuels bandwagon. Hard to switch to electric vehicles if you can't get battery's.

Just bought my second EV ranger this week. Love these things. Had the one a year and it’s been awesome. Hop in and go at -25. Great for getting around on job.

Internet news is interesting...............I was told that the above picture of a presumed lithium mine was actually a copper mine. I need to do a little research and find out the truth about mining lithium.

Looks like you may be correct

I used to sled back in the mid 90's on the river that goes right past Suncor and was always amazed how big it was back then.

Funny how tree huggers are quick to find an ugly picture of the oil sands but when a pic of a lithium mine comes up it’s ok.

Reclaimed oil sands mine:

From a tree hugger’s perspective, there is no cost to green energy solutions. They just magically materialize and begin saving the planet.
The lithium mines, the coal and steel required for a wind turbine, the thousands of tons of diesel fuel required to build a hydroelectric dam, all immaterial. The beneficial effects are immediate, the previous environmental costs are irrelevant because they can’t see them as they drive their Volvo’s out to the mountains for a latte.

I've been there too. Seen it before during and after it's reclaimed. You would never know it was even strip mined 20 years later.

I can't say the same for the lithium and rare earth mines. They are a wasteland when they are done.
