Well two weeks ago I traded my 2012 ecoboost for a 2010 5.4 V8 king ranch. I'm loving the king ranch interior its so nice but this is what I don't get. My ecoboost was a 3.5 V6 and meant to be great on gas. But I have now got my 5.4 V8 down to the same fuel economy 13L/100km how is that possible lol.

If you drive them the same you will burn a bit more with the 5.4 but not much, I've had both. 2010 5.4 and 2011 3.5. Big difference is the 5.4 is a complete dog compared to the eco, then again if you are getting 13/100 out of a 5.4 you are light footed.

Just out of curiosity how come you traded for the 5.4, were you having problems with your egobooster?

I ask b/c i'm about to buy a 12 ego with 68k on the clock

When the v6 is in boost it gulps fuel. You may also have had a bad one, seems like they are hit or miss on mileage. The torque is sure impressive though, considering one for my next truck.

I had no problems with it at all just had the chance to trade it. And I wanted a fully loaded truck.

Never had a 5.4 but a buddy did and best he could average with it was about 15.5. My Ecoboost now has 30,000k and it's seems to be improving on mileage right now averaging close to 13 hwy. Best on a longer trip was 12. But that may be due to warmer weather again. Horrible throughout the winter months at high 14's

Out of curiosity what did the option for the ecoD engine cost above a 5.7?

I had a 2009 F150 King Ranch 5.4. I could go from Edmonton to Winnipeg on a full tank, lie-o-meter would go 999km to empty. I have a 2013 5.0 now and I might see 900 to a tank.

I have a ecoboost and have seen 11.4l per100km on the gauge and 28mpg by manuel calc this is at 100km no wind . I have owned 6 5.4 l and the last one with a kN filter and Roush exhaust was peppy and got decent mileage

You like it? If it will run 10/100 that's pretty nice.
Only been driving it for a week but so far I really like it. Was going to start a thread after driving it for a few weeks. This truck isn't like the old dodges, very nice fit and finish. It should save me a lot per month over my F350. The F350 was a great truck but just a little overkill for the kms I drive.

I thought the same thing, save $$ over the 350 diesel I had. Im sure I save a bit, but not as much as expected. Plus the F150 has a box made out of tin foil, if you start chucking logs in it you will beat the he!! out of it. I took mine hunting the first week I had it and its just sh!tkicked now.

Gotta admit those new dodges look good, really like the interiors. Lots of good storage and well used space. Have you done any towing with it yet?

Towed my wakeboard boat out of storage last Friday and it pulled it no problem. Didn't pull it like my f350 but will get the job done. Mileage was around 13L/100 pulling. The dodge has a lot of torque. Wasn't sure what to expect, was really hoping it wasn't going to be like the old 6.2 Chevy diesel with good mileage but terrible for pulling. So far it hasn't disappointed.

If I was half ton shopping the ecoD would be on my short list, I was in dealer today they said owners are reporting 1000-1100 km/tank. Truck that has my attention is the 14.5 2500 6.4L with air ride rear suspension, no more lumber wagon leaf springs. I don't know if priced stupid, I hope not. Dodge is definitely stepping up their game.
