It's 12:20 and the Edmonton Oilers (Charity Foundation) online 50/50 draw for tonight's game is already at $2,914,605,up 200K from 10 minutes ago and 650K from 45 minutes ago.
Monday's draw (Aug 3) got to $3,259,445 with a lot of people not being able to buy a ticket. The draw was claimed today with the winner receiving $1,629,722.50.
Saturday's draw (Aug 1) had technical issues with online sales as they did not expect that much traffic on the website. I believe they eventually had to stop sales. That pot got to $762,550 with the winner taking home $381,275.

I could see tonight's draw getting up between 5-6 Million (2.5-3 million take home). Someones life is going to change. And were not even into the first round of the playoffs.

For reference, the AGLC has also given the Calgary Flames a licence for online 50/50 sales. The Aug 4th draw got to $294,570 with the winner taking home $148,785.

Albertan's are crazy when it comes to 50/50 draws. (And yes, I have bought tickets for all 3 Oilers draws so far).

More importantly - LET'S GO OILERS !!!! They need to show up tonight like they did in game 2.

For those looking to get in on the draw here is the website - https://www.nhl.com/oilers/community/5050-landing

Forgot to add:

Tickets can be purchased by individuals 18 years or older located within Alberta's provincial borders. All ticket sales are final and ticket buyers will receive a receipt via email a few minutes after purchasing that will list all numbers associated with the purchased tickets.
The winning ticket number will be posted below no later than 11:30 PM MST on the Oilers game day

A-XXXXXXX tickets have won both draws so far.

Those who are wondering. A- pack is 200/$50, B- pack is 60/$20, C- pack is 10/$10 and (I'm assuming) D- pack is 1/$5

I'm sure that everyone that watches sports or a mainstream news outlet in North America will know about the Oilers 50/50. I heard that Mondays draw was a world record for any sports related 50/50. Blew the Canucks $1,413,630 record out of the water (Nov 27, 2018).

Oilers community foundation distributes it to charities, who I'm not sure. Minor hockey, Bissel, muster seed, food bank, Santa's anonymous etc.

"EDMONTON, AB - The new Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation online 50/50 raffle presented by RE/MAX has been an overwhelming success, thanks to the generosity and passion of Oilers fans across Alberta.

Oilers fans across Alberta took the 50/50 program to a new level, establishing a record-setting jackpot of $3,259,445 on Monday, Aug. 4, with a prize amount of $1,629,722.50 to the winner.

The EOCF is committed to reinvesting the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle back into the community. The Foundation invests in youth hockey programming, focusing on under-represented groups to increase participation, as well as programs aimed at those most vulnerable in our community, in particular in Edmonton's downtown core.

"We are grateful to Oilers fans across the province for their amazing generosity in supporting the RE/MAX online 50/50 program," said Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Executive Director Natalie Minckler. "Funds generated will go to programs that support those in our community who have been most hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is truly a win-win for everyone."

The EOCF thanks fans for their patience and continues to work with the online 50/50 technology provider to address some of the capacity issues that arose due to the volumes experienced during the first two raffles.

Online 50/50 raffle tickets are available for purchase at EdmontonOilers.com/5050, beginning at 9:00 AM MST on Oilers game days. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early to ensure they have an opportunity to participate."

I just read that they sold out after they reached the 'Maximum number of tickets available'. How could there be a max on an online 50/50. All this talk, and posting on S&M and I didn't get a chance to buy one myself. Damn work getting in the way. lol.

(original post - I'm guessing that the AGLC shut it down cause they are worried that people are using VPN's to buy tickets from outside of Alberta.)

Just got this text from a friend B.K. “I just talked to my buddy at the AGLC, he told me that when they set up the raffle there is a set number of tickets they have to have entered. Once they are all used up that is it for that draw. He says they use it because certain volumes require certain licences. I would bet they increase the amount on Friday.”
