Sportsnet is announcing that Edmonton will not host an Indy Car race next year. Poor attendance? No interest? To much operating bills?

I'd wager it's the same story that dominates every occasion a sporting team/event comes or goes.
Wanted: more tax money to fund private business.

They mismanage funds and claim its a lack of big business support....IMO
Then they ch!t down and leave a long list of unpaid bills for our taxed to pay, but the promoter sales seem to end up fine.

Pretty bummed about this. Wonder if it has anything to do with the citys genious development plans for the airport. They weren't exactly choked up about losing a world class sporting event. City of champions!!!!

Ha to do with money and hand outs.
It's a real shame we have given it up.

I went every year and noticed the cutbacks increasing every year. Fan support was the biggest demise. It was
a losing venue before octane productions took over. I heard they went bankrupt.

As for the airport. I believe EIA financed themselves and use airport improvement fees to pay for it all.

The short sighted ppl of Edmonton fail to realize once again that it takes money to make money, so the city has to buck up a million or 2, 5 times that is being pumped into the economy with the spin offs.

exactly, but 95% of the public 's war cry is "not with my tax dollars!" even though the economic spinoff is five fold. some say this is just posturing by octane for more funding, they did the same thing shortly after they took over the montreal grand prix.. not good but it's not dead yet...
