Hey guys...just looking for recommendations for Edmonton area Ram diesel dealers based on service. Bought the truck from Derrick and have been let down again and again by them, kinda wondering if anyone has had any luck with service from anywhere else? TIA

Had the same experience with Derrick Dodge. Now deal exclusive with Grove Dodge

You can try Leduc Chrysler. Have been happy with them in the past. I generally do not go to dealers for routine servicing of anything. I find the irritation of having someone suggest I change my brake fluid on a vehicle with 13,000 kilometres pretty insulting when I brought it in for an air bag sensor recall and winter Tire installation (Go Auto - stay clear of them for sure)

We had great service in buying from Red Water Dodge.
How ever that's where it stopped. Their service department sucks. And we get about 6 letters a year asking to sell back our Journey and buy something else. Gets annoying. Not just letters but phone calls as well.

By service, I'm referring to repairs, warranty issues, recalls. Routine servicing at the dealerships in my experience seems only about half a notch better than the quick lubes so I take care of it myself. Kinda just looking for a place that isn't just gonna brush off my concerns until I go away or am out of warranty. Had heard a little good about Sherwood previously, sounds like the place to go. Thanks guys.

The only experience we had with SP Dodge is we brought my FIL's Caravan in for a new left wheel bearing (the growling was real obvious). They diagnosed the left side then replaced the right. They then suggested both sides were f'd up. Never did get resolution on that. Personally would never have routine repairs like this done at a dealer. Found a shop where I like and trust the owner and mechanics because I know who is working on the vehicle. They do not replace stuff before it is necessary unless they replace a part before it needs it.

Sp dodge has been no help to me, I will no longer go to them for anything. No one cares and the service manager was no help. Didn’t seem to care either.

Isn't Redwater Dodge owned by SP Dodge?

I wondered that too, when I was shopping for my Diesel they "found" one that was within my specs from Redwater Dodge....... but I got a 13 for the same dollar they wanted for their 11

I've had nothing but problems booking recall appointments with sherwood dodge... They have an awesome parts dept. But their service dept is not very user friendly... One hand doesn't know what the other knows... Very disorganized!

My only experience with sherwood dodge is buying one of my trucks there and there is a reason i've never been back. Three trips back when I was buying, and still couldn't have truck ready. Or maybe i'm too picky expecting a brand new truck to have all the plastic cleaned out, be cleaned inside and out, have the navi programmed I paid for, and be full of fuel, I don't think that's much to ask? Apparently it was to them, because I ended up just getting the money back for the navi, and I had to go fill it up myself. If a dealership ever does that to me again I will make sure they regret it by making sure the bill is at least $1000. Upon complaining the owner did email me and say they would send someone to pick up the truck, give me a loaner for the day detail it, program navi, and fill it up and bring it back, which I thought was pretty good of them, but it was too far gone at that point and didn't want anything else to do with them.

Derrick is awful, I tried them again a while back thinking after 10 years maybe they improved? Nope. Got into an argument with the service manager about overfilling the oil. He claimed you have to check the oil immediately after turning truck off and it needs to be in safe zone, not 10-15 minutes after so the oil has run down. You'd think at some point they would read the owners manual and know what it says! Tried to get them to drain and refill to proper level, but they refused. Will never go back there for anything.

I've heard a few ok things about Capital, going to try there next. I've been going to great west for many years, for service they are ok mostly go because it's close, but after the nightmare of buying my new truck there, I will never give them another penny. Hands down the most dishonest and incompetent dealer around. And that's saying a lot because all of them are shady.

Hangin out with all the guys that deliver them I hear lots of good stuff about Ft Sask ....
I think that the level of service and interest in providing good work at a fair price is better in the out of Edmonton dealerships. I can't speak to the quality of their techs. Fewer farm boys available then there used to be.

Little ways out of Edmonton but I go from Calgary back to Big West Dodge in Drayton Valley for all of my trucks. Either Clint or Jimmy are good guys to deal with on trucks.

Haha. Sounds like you are running out of Dodge dealers. You might have to switch to a Ford :).

Any company, car dealers included, can screw up. I judge them not by the initial screw up but how they address the problem. Some companies are really good at fixing the problem and others less so. I cannot think of a service department at a dealership that did a good enough job at that part to remember them positively. That is why I only go there for warranty work. Routine maintenance is done by others I trust and I keep careful records of that.
