I’m looking for a new Chevy 1 ton and wondering how the newest Duramax is for reliability or issues?

My brother is enjoying his, no issues at all. Of course there will be cases where some have had issues, all brands are like this.
My next one might be a chev, big might but they are nice trucks.

Mine has been great so far. Came from many years of driving Cummins and it is a very different beast. I haven’t had a massive load behind it yet but unloaded and with a mild load it is impressive, not as much bottom end grunt as my last Cummins (17 with an Aisin) but overall power it feels more impressive.

I know atleast half a dozen guys with new duramax's ( 1 year or less old) and every one is happy with only one common complaint, they are so friggen expensive.
Mine actually ended up being less than I would have paid for a comparable Dodge and with financing that wasn’t ridiculous for someone with a great credit score and long history with Dodge. The only reason I even test drove the D-Max was that I felt Dodge was way out to lunch on price and percentage and once I priced it out the purchase was a no brainer.

When you compare the price of a Porsche to a Bugatti, the Porsche seems cheap, bit its still damn expensive!

Pretty hard to go wrong with a Duramax, the L5P is no exception to this.

Last 3 have been the 3500HD with the Duramax that I have bought new. Currently driving a 2018 that has almost 60000km on it. Have had nothing major with any of them. Each one was back to the dealership only once for work beyond regular maintenance (Map sensor, emissions fault, etc.). Been happy with all of them and will probably get another. Just trying to decided if it will be a 2019 or 2020.

I picked up a '19 HC coming from a '14 Cummins. Ride is great, tranny is smooth. I think that's where it ends for myself over a ram. Paint is paper thin. I had the same 10k ish load on it that I had on the Cummins and it doesn't pull it as well. Full disclaimer, the ram was deleted and running a small tune when towing but it had more grunt than the dmax stock. Ram had more options in a Laramie than the HC does as well. If I could go back I would of picked another ram

What does a Laramie come with that a High Country doesnt ?
Just off the top of my head. Heated rear seats, rear underseat storage, floor storage, auto headlights and wipers (which are a gimmick anyways). None of it a hig deal but just pointing it out. Oh and the damn heated steering wheel doesn't come on with remote start on the chev. My hands freeze pretty quick. Just another annoyance to me. Third world problems right

Yeah Chevy has always been late to the party on heated seats... not sure why. There is defintely room to store ahit under the seat, there just isnt a compartment built into the truck. Definitely isn't any in floor storage though.
I would have thought that steering wheel turn on with the heated seats when it's cold?
I never even noticed the lack of storage when I bought it. Ended up getting their underseat tray.
My steering wheel don't turn on when it's cold. I've looked through all the options in the screen and can't find anything. I could be blind too. In the ram only the drivers seat heat would turn on with remote start. Could never grasp that one

I have a 16 duramax and the squeaks in the cab will stop me from buying another. Fixed and found most of them, but there is now one from the driver's plastic doorframe at the top by the window. Annoying as hell. Goes away if you pound on it, but always comes back. Will take it apart at some point.

I have a new 18 Duramax love it but yes squeaks and drives me nuts how do you fix it?

Yes the heated seat thing is stupid. I wonder if the Engineers that do the software even drive?? Likely take transit or their moms drive them to work.
