duramax help

k i need some help i have an 05 gmc duramax with a blown head gasket instead of spending a whole bunch of money and still end up with a motor with 300000 plus km i bought a new used motor with supposedly 93 000 km it suppose to be an 04.5- 05 duramax which should be the same as mine which is the lly motor. well now i have the motor out of my truck and one can clearly see that they are not the same different hose size, intakes and most confusing is the ecm mounted on the motor on old motor but no where to mount on new one. so question is where can i find the serial number on new motor as i have no idea where the actual truck is that it came out of and can the old ecm be reprogramed to work with new motor?? thanks throw what ever you got at me anything will help

what you have is an 06 lly as they did not have a f.i.c.m as it was controlled
by the ecm after 05 go get another one as there would be too many connections that would be different

Yikes I feel for you cause thats guna be a pain.

Option one get proper motor
2 buy wrecked proper year truck and pull the ECM PCM and install it and all the proper connections in your 05
3 Stand alone computer and install all proper connections.

I would get the proper motor
Vin your truck take it to a dealer get them to run it confirm engine model if your unsure then get the proper one.
