Driving lights on pickup - truckers don't like em?

They are the Pro80 XT Pencil Beams, so they are focused far and narrow, I think it was around $350 per pair, be aware that they are a strictly offroad racing light, and "illegal" on a vehicle, blah blah blah, I got them at JB's about 2 years ago, I'm not sure if you can get them anymore, I'll be there are better HID driving lights available now, but bring your wallet.

i see no need for them either but i sure get in trouble lots now on the hi way with my HID lights, i get flashed all the time and then i get annoyed so i show them what bright really is.. and they sure turn off their brights in a hurry lol
maybe you should have them aimed properly, if trucks are flashing you they are too high. I hope you wait before flashing them to high until the oncomings flash you twice, it's what I do just because some people will realize you are not on high beam. if I flashed you a quick hibeam and you let me have it, I'm liable to be in your lane with 50 tons of iron at 60+....nothing pisses me off more on the highway than aftermarket superlights that aren't aimed properly.

I did a favor for a buddy once and went to Jasper to drive his old gravel truck back to Whitecourt. It was pitch black out and I didn't find out the headlights were stuck on high beams till I got to the hiway and got flashed. They wouldn't go on low beam. People would turn thier high beams on just before meeting me and I almost drove into the ditch or into their lane several times. I swore after that I would never turn my high beams on a guy again. Flashing is ok but don't turn them on and leave them on. That is dangerous.

Yes pls keep your driving lights off when meeting or following fellow drivers. The only time I turn my factory driving lights on is when I meet someone with their's on...they usually give me the brights...WTF they don't like a taste of their own medicine??

Hey guys, in response to your driving light query. What I did long ago is take 5' piece of 2x4 and turned my lights on, then mark on the 2x4 roughly where the center of the beam hits, then when you hook to your trailer or load up on the sled deck hold the 2x4 in front of the lights and turn your adjustment screws to adjust the lights back down to the mark on the 2x4. You must remember to count the number of turns it takes to do this, then store it in your Owners Manual. After that you can throw the 2x4 away if you want. The reason to use a 2x4 [or larger] is it sure is a lot easier to adjust the light. For those of you who have a garage, just drive up to within a foot or two of the door and mark the center of the beam with black tape. I know this seems like a pain, but you only have to do it once and everyone the road, including us sledders, will appreciate it. mel.h

i drive truck too it's seems that there are a lot more really brite lights than there used to be i think that if we all used a little more common sense it wouldn't be an issue..just my 2 cents.

The driving lights should be hooked up to the hi beams so they go out when you are approaching traffic they are a hazard to small cars and it could cause a crash and that crash could involve you in a head on.... It's worse when you have a trailer or loaded deck it points your lights up. The last time I drove back from Valemount on a Friday night I was blinded lots.:nono::nono::rant:

I'm pretty sure that they are wired in to shut off when your brights are on because they are fog lights and driving in the fog with your brights on is just dumb.

Biggest problem is people don't set their lights properly or never adjust them. If they are adjusted properly then there really shouldn't be an issue.

Most vehicles do not have true fog lights anymore. A true set of fog light have a slight amber color.

For the fellow dodge owners, I want to know how they keep the driving lights in working condition to have to deceide whether to turn them on or not - had a 2002, 2003 and 2005 - all had broken driving lights shortly after driving off the dealer lot. One piece unit - very spendy. Anyone know of an aftermarket light that just plugs in?

Good discussion - I hate oncoming traffic with driving lights on unless thick fog.
