Even if it's warm, there is so much crap on the roads and spray from other vehicles. I seen a guy riding last month all bundled up. Not worth it IMO.
Riding should be nothing but pure enjoyment, not trying to get thru it or just another mode of transportation.

Hell i would ride mine if i could. But they are tucked away in a place with a whole lot of snow and ice between them and any sort of clear pavement. So that wont be happening for a while

There's a local guy here whom I've known for many years. I'm both appalled and impressed with this guy, he has a colourful vocabulary and an odorous aroma about him. A greasy smile with blackish looking teeth surrounded by an unwashed face as if he'd been sleeping in a tent for a month, topped off with slick wire like thinning hair and a old ball cap, usually, BUT, he still has all his teeth!
This guy can tell the crustiest, dirty, low down filthy stories I've ever heard...and I believe their true. I call him Dirty Wayne. If any of you know Len Graf, who is a very religious and nice guy, well, he befriended Dirty Wayne(I always struggled at the connection) even though in short bursts it was a lot of fun listening to Dirty Wayne ramble off, in his low grumbly voice, an absolutely disgusting grungy story of the antics of himself, an old girlfriend, and usually an animal, vegetable or hobo mixed in somewhere, then chuckle out loud about his reminiscing with a deep, low "heh, heh, heh". Anyways, Dirty Wayne rode a old Honda GoldWing(and probably still does) in the winter. He's told us stories of blizzarding snowstorms, travelling long distances with teeth gritted, sometimes sliding into the ditches, picking up the "scratched" bike, then continuing again. He has many, many tales that'll make a grown man cringe. Thats just Dirty Wayne. He's still around.

8 Tickets Of Bitterness
I had a 1976 YZ 100 that I was fixing up long, long ago in a neighbourhood far away. January, bored, itching to go for a ride could only bring one logical answer-take out the bike! Things went well, going up and down the alleys(when we had alleys) and just generally putting around.
I was in an icy alley going up a long mild hill when I noticed an older truck with 3 guys sitting beside each other, an old bench seat model, following behind me. I tried to lose them just going around the block and coming into the alley again but just a bit faster this time. They were still behind me! As I came to the top of the alley and a paved road I stalled the bike. I was in a too high a gear on a bike that had absolutely NO low end power, plus I was nervous cause these guys were tailing me. DAMN!

As I tried to push start the bike, slipping in the snow one of the guys got out of the truck and ran after me, my bike was just sputtering to life as I ran with it and I felt his hand grab my right shoulder then slip off(he fell) as I speeded away at high RPM throwing roost, never looking back while he tumbled on the ice!
I thought I made it! I got into 5th down the road, going pretty fast, came to another paved road that required me to take a right turn. No problem. I accelerated down that road, winding it out in 4th then upshifting to 5th and thats when It happened. I stripped my shifter, damn thing, it was loose and I was stuck in 5th! As I came to a turn I NEEDED to make to get to safety it stalled again. Before I could fix it those guys came flying down the road in their truck and all 3 jumped out and ran over to me. Off duty cops. They scared the crap out of me. They made me push the bike home up the big snowy hills and said they'd be back to see me in the morning.
Well, a cop car pulled in at 8 am and the guy wrote me 8 tickets while he put me down verbally. Tickets that I have to this day. I keep them on the fridge. Part of my festering bitterness I suppose. I had to work off those expensive tickets at Pound Makers Lodge over a long period of time. I make sure my bikes 100% now.

Didn't see a bike today but, in the space of a 1/2 hr, a cop came sliding down an exit way from a store and missed me by a couple of microns, then I was waiting in traffic on a side road, the city had it's graders grading the snow and a really big snowblower shooting the snow into trucks. I was stopped momentarily waiting my turn. just beside me, going the other way was a lady in a SUV honking her horn at the trucks to move. I just looked at her like "your an idiot" and I moved ahead. Like that'll get them out of the way! Their moving snow! I continued on my joyful drive finally getting to the place I had to be and I run into this guy. I was in this place just yakking with the girls up front and this guy read his paper popping bubble wrap the whole time. Perfectly content. Haha
