What happened?
We were just cruising down one of the sand trails, and my tire caught the edge. It twisted the bars, and apparantly the tie rod. Didn't drive very well at all, so I had to get a buddy to drag me backwards to the truck. It was only about 1/2 mile, and in the sand, so I knew that it wouldn't be TOO hard on the tires, and everything else. It was down pouring again, and near the end of the day, so we loaded up and went home.
Fix 'er up and do it again!
12$ fix bro.. been there done that now i carry 2 spares just buy the yamaha replacement they are hollow and made to give in so something does before it snaps your wheel off.
easy replacement just make sure your tires are strait when you put the new one on. and SLIGHTLY toe them out about 1/4-1/2 inch on each side to keep the steering easy. (steers hard with slight toe in)
Good luck with your repair.
oh and btw.. when your saw it I bet you went HOLY SHHHHH%^*%# .. I know i did i thought i wrote er off at first.
also i think this happens to grizzlies because they come non tightened and the shop is supposed to adjust your wheels when they mount the tires.. but if they dont tighten them nuts up they can slowly toe out more and more and more ..
reason i think this is because ive found about 7 Yamaha ATV's with loose tie rod nuts.
although yours kinda looks like a kodiak
I THINK YOU GUYS BOTH MEAN: TIE-ROD ADJUSTER "SLEEVE"???yup you dont need the tie rod ends just the rod
So, I was at Bruderheim on Monday with some friends, and was wondering if my quad is supposed to look like this?
