The only way there is to avoid the thieves portion is if it is a gift, and you had better have good proof at that.

Mmmmm now here is a twist. I am hoping to trade for this sled, The bill of sale and reg is done on my sled and is in my name, do you think if we make a bill of sale up as a trade I could use that as you would at a dealer to skip the tax...same value. Sadly the one in looking at is from Alberta and never registered here.

Nope. The thieves will still charge you the tax on the declared value as if it was just a simple sale.

Just get Devon to write you a bill of sale stating "not previously registered". I can give you a copy of the bill of sale from when I bought it in Alberta too if you like. ICBC will do a search, get you to sign a statutory declaration, then ding you the tax. Piece of cake. I've done it with 2 other sleds I bought from Alberta back before the thieving pricks raised the tax from 7% to 12%. Or just carry the bill of sale with you as proof of ownership and don't register. That's what I'm doing now.

Yep that's good enough for me too...Proof of ownership is all I'm looking for anyhow. As far a the tax man they can pound sand!
bought a new m1000 from red deer and traded it on my tm8, tax never paid or registered, was good enough for me.
just looking for a loop hole.

Register it in your name in Alberta and then transfer the registration as if you moved. or pay the tax.

or move to alberta and tell bc to stuff all their taxes up their as$$, with all the tourism money they get there and still need to rip off the residents is a crying shame, there has to be bad choices made by the bc gov to still have no money..

Well........our provincial income tax rate is actually lower than Alberta's, and Alberta doesn't offer the lifestyle I choose to live. I quad from my door, and I drive 5 minutes to unload my sled. Actually, I can do that from my door right now if I choose. Gotta be some reason so many of you guys are coming here to have fun. The cost of driving here from Alberta every weekend for recreation kind of offsets the extra taxes to live here, and it can actually be fun finding "creative" ways to avoid paying some of those taxes.

Oh so much to say to this, but trying to not be a a$$, haha.
Move to Alberta so I can drive to BC on my time off to have fun, stay home Lightening1000, F'n guys like you.......just as an example I would like to see the cost of highway maintenance in BC compared to Alberta, just keeping the #1 open so you guys can come to BC is crazy. Alberta spend much on Avy controll? And that is one example. If a guy can afford to sled, you can afford to pay your share, maybe get one less light bar.
Seems to me your own province is feeling a bit of pressure on the budget now as well, good thing they gave you all beer money a few years back, good long term thinking.
Stay home if it is all to much for you, look at your list of toys and still complaining?
So sick of this complaint, but once you are here sure is a fun beautiful place to hang.

^^^^^^^^lmao your too funny, and I not the one complaining, I like all alberta has to offer, and if half of the people down in bc did something instead of crying about their economy or lack of jobs, mayne the government may change a few things so people could actually afford to live there!!! up north here we have many bc residents working in alberta but do you see me on here saying stay out of alberta???????? no but we are nice in alberta unlike some of the residents there...Oh and I don't ride your mountains so there....lol
