Do any anti photo radar plate covers work?

I was told by an ex's dad that a coat of clear pearl paint works wonders. Seen the picture. 90% of the plate was un readable.

I saw a while back that ZR Auto in Calgary had a product that would flash back at a red light cam so it couldn't get a pic.

I drive slow as a snail in my megacab, however, 62 in a 50 will still get you a ticket. 60 is CRAWLING. But still gets you a ticket in some situations. Photo radar cars parked all over the place, at night, hiding... you can't tell me you do exactly the speed limit or under or have NEVER received a ticket. Never rolled through a stop light turning right? C'monnnnnn

And here lies my issue. I generally try to do the speed limit or close to but since I drive around Edmonton all day for work I receive multiple tickets per month for 11 over. Mainly because I am way to focused on driving and staying with the one of traffic to notice that it went from 70-60 and there is a photo radar van behind that tree. Total BS. School zone fine but everywhere else it should be set to 15-20 over to catch the people that are actually the problem and not just trying to commute around the city safely going with the flow.

Exactly. Its dark, theres a radar car- literally the posted speed sign is pitch black. Says 50. FLASH.

I think i'm going to get one of those "no photos" Would save you a few bucks too!

I think I have had three photo radar tickets in my driving career. I have receive my fair share over the years of speeding tickets given out the old fashion way but most from my younger years. In the last five years I think I have had maybe two. In most and all cases I was if fact speeding and paid the fine with no problem.

I agree with Maxwell, photo radar if used as intended would be fine but when they set up on the henday/whitemud/yellowhead overpasses right at a speed change they actually create a hazard. those who see the van/truck last minute are hitting the binders on a 6 lane freeway to get from 120km/h (the current flow of traffic) down to 100 km/h in the span of an underpass. It is freaking dangerous and I am positive it has created accidents.

If used in high risk high consequence situations such as school zones and for people chasing down late yellows and speeding through red lights I fully support the use of photo however in MANY cases it is an obvious cash cow.

I find a lot of the places they park and not using 4-way flashers they are a serious hazard, but it's a clue that they're there snapping pic's when you see a vehicle almost on the road without 4-ways on....

Should start calling them in stating there's a vehicle impeding traffic without following basic "SAFTEY protocols"

Was reading an article today, that the city of Edmonton, is under staffed and have received an 6.5 % increase in 911 calls this year already....they're goal is 80% of the time to respond within 7 minutes of an emergency and 3 hours of an non emergency,,,,,they're hitting 65%.....

On the Henday and Hwy 14 at a pinch point for lanes and speed change for the third time this year they set up this time with 11 cars....that's a lot of cops not responding to emergencies....didn't get me this year ....(yet knock on wood)

Henday and 14 is Sherwood Park RCMP, and the Sheriffs. No EPS there at all.

Actually all three were there.....it's still a huge waste of time and nothing but a money grab, I believe there time and there education could be put to use else where....

Are you sure it was EPS? Not maybe County Bylaw Enforcement? 99.5% sure that area is not EPS jurisdiction.

Regardless, if you're worried about getting caught, don't speed. If you wanna speed, then prepare to suffer the consequences. I don't speed on highways, but I do on city streets (not school zones). I also text while driving. If I get caught doing either, then I deserve the fine.

These guys that give you traffic tickets, are also NOT the same officers who respond to things like murders, domestic issues, etc. Maybe traffic accidents, but that's about it. Not sure that setting up a speed trap is necessarily a "money grab". Photo radar? ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY it is!!

First you need a liquid crystal display like in a laptop computer. It needs to be the same size as your plate. The back layer is to be removed so you can see through it. Now a circuit must drive the display to block out only 1 digit of your plate at any one time and the blacked out area must scroll at a speed faster than the eye can see. The plate will look like it only has a piece of shaded glass in front of it, which most cops will accept. But the camera is way faster and at any moment the picture is take, there will be missing information from the image.
