Hi,

I'm planning on building a single place aluminum deck for my Tacoma (6' long bed). I need advice on tubing size and thickness, mainly the "C" channels, crossmembers and footing. It's going to be about 6'6 wide by 8' long. I was thinking:
4'' X 3/16'' thick C channels
1 1/2" X 0.125'' square crossmembers
2'' X 0.125'' square footing
Not sure on ramp yet...

I built a double space extendible deck for my dad's truck a few years ago and since I wasn't sure about thickness, I mostly used 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch thickness for the build which is probably overkill.

Also curious as to what people use for welding filler, 4043 or 5356?

If anybody is willing to share any plans, I'd be interested.

All advice is welcomed.

You could use 1 1/2 all around thinkness 125 wall should be fine for one sled. Same for ramp.

Use the 4043 for filler....your wall thicknesses sound good, just don't be shy to gusset any corners and stress points with .125 plate....

better safe than sorry.....
