So I post this every year and here it is again...

Our freedom to ride ditches in the areas we do have that privilege let's make sure we keep it that way. The RCMP do turn the other cheek but just avoid doing the things they do watch for.

1) stay out of the medians. First off its just not safe! Secondly this is one thing the rc's will stop you for.

2) if your in a small town getting gas or live there and are heading out for a rip. Go strait in and strait out. Ducking around in town will end up in the towns that do still allow us to ride in and out to say no more.

3) don't ride right up on the shoulder. I know it drifts there and with the plow plowing snow in there it can be temping but it's not worth it and a nothing thing the cops will stop you for....

4) if a fence is down on a field doesn't mean it's free reign. Unless you have permission from the farmers you shouldn't ride their land. If They start to complain we again risk the cops enforcing more strictly.

Just some food for thought. The more we do to act responsible while we ride the more chance we have to retain our riding areas and us being allowed to ride the ditches and fields

Great points. Point 5 could be don't try any of the above in Strathcona County. They have nothing better to do but to hassle sledders. Hence why we have no more trails in Fort Sask and why I take my money to nice communities like Whitecourt and Valemount and Revy.

Who are you and what have you done with my brother.......lol

All good points, we've seen areas closed to OHV's and rules enforced that at one time the other cheek was turned.

I love riding the ditches and it pisses me off to see the tracks in the medians and hot rods dragging through town

Yup ditch ridin is fun but there is always gonna be people that will push it past what law enforcement are willing to overlook and then everyone will suffer. On a different note has Arlene taken out her new sled yet? How does she like it?

People seem to think because they're not getting stopped it's not against the law. This isn't the case. Some counties just choose to turn a blind eye and let it slide. If we don't ride responsibly this won't be the case anymore

Ditch bashed all day yesterday. 154 2.5" and nary a stick or rock. Some nice cut lines too north of 43 by Gunn.

Another point on ditch banging at night is to ride in the direction of the traffic so you don't blind oncoming drivers. I had a RCMP pull me over back in 97 to mention this. No ticket, just a warning. Just after the power lines between Kapasawin and Wab heading into Wab.

Hmmmm I was told to ride facing oncoming at all times. So you can see what's coming. Much like walking on the side of a road

Well thats what this cop said. This was at night and he said the high beam of the sled shone right in the vehicle drivers eyes causing a distraction. In this case it was him!. I had buddies get warned a few years later by the cops that riding on 16 was against the law any time. Only 3 digit hi ways like 633 and 627 were legal. Then just 2 years ago some buds got hassled by the county mounties for riding 633 broad daylight. I just make sure I have all my documentation and go "yes sir, can I go now sir?" .

Got passed by one today while stopped at the gas station on 16... He turned off
Figured he was coming to check us but
Continued on down the RR.

I think some have other ideas as to what's acceptable than others do. As long as I can keep in riding the ditches I'm happy. Decent trip today. Stretched her legs a little anyways
