I looking for 2 stroke dirt bike I ride a 4 stroke klx 140 what should I get I'm 5'8 141 lb
12 years old $3000 or less new or used I'm a intermediate rider on track

your pretty big for a 12 year old. id recommend a 125 for your height/weight but those things are scary fast for someone coming off a 140 trail bike.

even the 85cc 2 strokes have alot of jam.. id go for a 85cc big wheel bike.

YZ85 big wheel, KX85 big wheel, or even a KTM if you can find one in your budget.

My son is the exact same size and height as you and he is riding a yzf250 with absolutely no problem. He will be 12 in July.He came off a KTM 85sx and he was way to big for it. And def not enough jam for him. The kid does have a little more experience than most his age as he's been on a dirtbike since he was 6. He's a happy kid now I'll tell ya. $3000 will get you a 2004-2008 250f.

sounds like theres a big difference between your son and this kid.

id still choose the 85 cause you can always sell it for pretty much what you bought it for, and buy a bigger bike whenever your used to the 2 stroke engine.

I have been riding for 1 year and need an u p grade because it a bet slow and im hitting rock bottom on the jumps

sounds like theres a big difference between your son and this kid.

id still choose the 85 cause you can always sell it for pretty much what you bought it for, and buy a bigger bike whenever your used to the 2 stroke engine.

different like how?? Same age, same weight, same hieght.. you wanna get a kid hurt than put him on on under-powered smaller wheeled bike that his knees touch the handle bars on... I had to install a 2" bar riser on my kids 85 just so he could ride the thing last fall without looking like a dog phucking a football.

im sure alot of younger kids can handle bigger bikes, your son looks like he rides great.

the only problem is this kid is coming off of a trail bike, and has little experience. so what if he needs to sell the bike in august? hell get most of his money back and he will gain some experience. he hasnt even rode a 2 stroke before, a 125 is a whole different league of bikes compared to that klx trail machine he has now.

I see your point but I would hate to discredit the poor kid. He says he is an intermediate rider on the Track which tells me he is beating the p!ss out of his KLX right now. The "different league" of bike will only make him a better AND safer rider on the track IMHO. My son is also an intermediate rider on the track???

nobody is an intermediate rider on the track with a KLX140. that thing probably cant even clear any of the jumps.

I have cleared plenty of jumps the suspension is to soft for the landing ( as it should be for a trail bike ) but I have cleared a 20 ft or move I have smoke an kx85 on the intermaidet track so if u want to classifie be as a lower leaver rider because my bike than do it but I was,asking advice from more exprince rider for help on the bike i will send a pic.of my frist day

125 is an easy choice. If you can ride an 85 you can ride a 125; the power to weight ratio is pretty much the same so the 125 won't be any more of a handful. In fact with the bigger wheels and the longer wheelbase the 125 will probably be easier to handle for a kid of your size. You know what a circus bear is?
