Hey I always wondered if a hand held radio or cell
phone that was keeped to close to a beacon ,in let's say
A pocket on your chest some where Close to it,
would cause interference with beacon signal ??
Or for one that is searching for one ???
Dose any one know anything about this??

yes it will. had a cell phone on when trying to locate another beacon at the house, it was making the signal act weird, turned off cell phone and it worked ok. i have no idea on the transmit though, the reciever it did. that was on a sos beacon, will try on the new element that i have.
in the alpine your phone won't work so put it in airplane mod or turn oit on when you want to see if it works. a radi may be the same? :twocents:

i'm no expert just my own observation. maybe other beacons may be different.

Is their a chanel that's beter than another ?
Or just keep it mounted to the sled and not on person ?

Sled shows coming up.. any new news or updates on this years beacons? I haven't researched yet but thought I'd check in with you guys who have bought in last few years. Currently have the tracker 2 but didnt find it the most user friendly in practice. But that said I should practice with it more than I have. Just considering a beacon upgrade this season if something out there is better for locating! Going to test the Garmin Rhino vs the beacon pre-season too. I usually have one in a front jacket pocket (like your hands pockets). Beacon strapped shoulder and waist but sits right next to that bc avy bag strap usually pushes radio up.

Any opinions on the ortovox s1+?.. Looks like it has some good features but maybe a little complicated when running in panic mode

Sent from a phone.. From a bush
