It was great that the Alberta Beach snowmobile club groomed the trails one last time last week. Just in time for all the quads to come out for a beautiful Saturday of vandalizim to the absolutely smooth trail. I don’t get it. I wasn’t out but my family cut they’re ride early as they couldn’t keep on the trail with the big fish tailing ruts. A couple groups of 10 machines or more tells me they probably towed they’re **** out from the city. Staged at stanger. I don’t get it. Sad

You can mention to the people, however they can care less. We have reported this to city many times. No action. Frustrating, since this is all volunteer time, Equipment.

I feel your pain. I groom 20kms of ski/ fat bike trails on my own time and it's almost like people wait until a fresh groom and then go for trail run.... asshats are everywhere.

I recall running the groomer on our trails and having an asshat quadder ripping doughnuts on my freshly groomed trail. Asshat couldn't even wait until I was out of sight. If I could have got a hold of him I would have beat him to within a breath of his life.

Dam red nics giving real red necks a bad name, happens everywhere, here the sledders rip the x-country trails and the quaders rip the snowmobile trails. I think the quaders and sxs riders are winning though, they really tear things up.

One of many examples, can't see it getting better with all the SxS sales.. guys like the idea of using these all yr round instead of just in the winter

In saskatchewan if the people are caught with a wheeled vehicle on snowmobile trails they are charged the cost for grooming again!! Not sure about other provinces but it is illegal and enforced by sask snowmobile assocation.

If you read the report ATV's actually are doing damage that cannot be repaired or would be very costly, a groomer won't do much once huge ruts are into the ground. This will IMO get much worse as years go on and effect sledders as they will be grouped together with all motorized vehicles and tails and riding areas closed or abandoned by clubs as well as land owners refusing access as well.

I will start by apologizing to all responsible quad and SXS drivers BUT those machines will be what ends riding in remote areas. They chew up ground causing erosion and there seems to be many who just can't wait to get in a swamp or puddle and make ruts. No need to mention the idiots in the creeks. I saw the ad for the new Textron SXS and thought that is exactly what we don't need. Ad campaign shows guys rippin it up like they are in the baja desert. Not much of that around here in Canada.

I have always preferred sledding in the winter as when the snow melts, tracks are gone. Lower impact IMO.

Yes, I do own a quad but stick to my own properties for the most part.

Wow guys, you aren't doing anything to help the sledding community by spreading that garbage around the internet on behalf of the greenies. Good thing we don't have a plethora of equestrian enthusiasts on here spreading anti-snowmobile propaganda.

Many ATV users just don't know any better which is why our communities should cooperate better to peruse legislated training for all OHV users.

wasn't my intention to spread greenie proaganda, ask the mod to delete the posts, no worries. ATV users that don't know better won't unless they are educated by user that do know and care. Policing and educating is all of our jobs to help preserve riding areas and trails. Legislation is written to deal with problems there is no solution too and requires more taxes, hence a new bill, to police. From your comments thou it seems better for all of us if don't spread this information or discuss it as it might bring awareness and speed up the closures. Maybe, maybe.. Sorry to all who are responsible riders

When I posted this I’m not atacking quads. I’m upset with the dickhead quaders who destroyed a trail that took 4 days for 2 guys to groom. Not to mention 2-300 litres diesel per day. I find it hard to believe in a large group nobody thought hmmm. Look what we did to the trail. Ever since stanger hills opened atv’s are becoming a problem in my area.

You know Stanger is multi use even in the winter right? Not all the trails are multi use but there are a bunch that are. I hope you are not confusing the two.

I would also suggest to the clubs in the Edmonton area as a solution to put up signage on groomed trails once they start grooming asking that ATV&UTV stay off groomed trail.

ill bring that idea to the next LSA club meeting. I'm not sure how easy it would be to come up with something effective. Perhaps signs at the major entrances showing the status of the snowmobile trails and advising riders to look for snowbmobile trail signs?

We did some riding out in the Westlock Trail system. On the way back we came through the sand hill. There was a dude with a pick up all chained up with his kids, tobogganing down the hill. He didn't get there on the main road though. He chewed the crap out of the trial coming from the North. That was a chit show with sleds, bouncing back and forth, side to side. These guys just have no understanding how dangerous that can be. I was almost thrown into a tree a few years ago because of this.

I think we as the Snowmobile club would be happy to work with the LSA on this Dean.
