They turned the hospital into an extended care facility a few years back, it's quite nice, or at least the best of a ****ty deal!
we took mom there for a couple weeks on a respite to begin with, unfortunately the next "respite" had turn into a permanent thing! Any way it might be an option for you guys. Sometimes entering one of those facility's can be a huge adjustment for some people and they can take quite a change for the worse for a bit, don't mean to scare you but it's something to any be prepare for!!

Thanks for all the replies people/

My aunt lately still remembers me, but is forgetting great nieces and nephews. and some other shorter memory things.

As winter seems to be here, My uncle has to be sure that she does not wander out, because she has from time to time.

It feels better that I am not alone in this world of dimentia, and that the support and advise is here..

Odd thing, My uncle worked at an aluminum foundry all his working life, and I thought he would be the one to suffer from this devastating disease... seems that it's quite the opposite.

Seems to be more and more people affected by this disease. It is scary if she is wandering. So far my mom isn't but we are looking into a security system and hopefully we can have it kind of tailord for her situation. Might be something for you as well.

I heard there was a lady a few weeks ago in edmonton that was going to the bathroom but went outside instead. By the time they found her she had froze to death. Very sad situation.
