I am GLAD to here they are pulling people over who can't be bothered to make sure their lights are on! I almost hit someone on highway 2 because they couldn't be bothered to turn on their lights in pitch dark. Maybe they would of got the message if I ran them over? It might seem a bit over the top, but how many times do you see someone driving in the middle of the night on the highway with ZERO lights. Now add the fact that they are driving 80 km/h and a bit icy highway=accident waiting to happen!

WTF does driving at night have to do with daytime running light tickets?

This reminds me alot like snowest, someone makes a beef and all the dogooders jump down the guys throat.
We all can't be perfect like the rest of you...I don't walk around my truck with my checklist and check tire pressure, lights, brake wear, etc. everytime I jump in my truck.
He got a ticket for something that should have been a warning.

I agree. Some of the responses to the initial post were pretty rude. This site isn't like that all the time though.

Pretty much the same thing DRL are required by law in canada to prevent accidents during the daytime when vision is obstructed on highways. No different not having them on then not having your lights on at night. Which is also against the law (obvious, but doesn't seem like it to some!)

It's not the color thats the law it is the film on the window. Only manitoba and Quebec it's by color so pedestrians and other vehicles make eye contract to see what you are doing.

For the back windows dark as you want techically you don't need windows in the back like cube vans and semis....as long you have 2 outside mirrors

YOU ARE WRONG. Read the law you posted. If it was because of the film, they would not allow it in the backseat. DO passengers faces not matter. haha... It's because the police want to be able to see the driver's face.

British Columbia - No film is permitted on the driver’s compartment, right and left. Any film may be installed on the side windows behind the driver. Any film may be applied to the rear window, provided the vehicle has 2 exterior rear view mirrors.

Not the same thing, cops have an exception, americans coming up have an exception, Canadian cars older than 1990 have an exception. As far as I know everyone needs lights at night.

Why is everyone jumping on this dude!!! WTF.

1. He was driving in town. Don't remember ever not seeing vehicles because of their DRL's not on.

2. Is was daylight in town. Duh.....

3. Fog off. You never had a burnt out tail light, and someone else pointed it out to you. Good thing it wasn't the police. I think you might get 3 yrs for that.

There isn't more important things for them to do? He was probably just upset because his farts smell like burnt rubber from the night before.

Yawn....

Check around before calling everyone else names, this ain't the first thread where he's bashed the cops, its been a common thing for the last couple months on at least 3 threads now, this is getting old. Do a search by his username and add "cops". Ya we got it, you don't like the cops. Maybe his demeanor was "less than friendly" with the officer and so his warning got turned into a ticket. GOT "problem with authority"? There are 3 sides to every story - yours, mine and the truth. You've only got 30% of it.

Big boys drive big toys - intentional or not, pay the fine, fix the park brake and get over it.

I firmly believe cops should be pulling people over with a burnt out taillight, how many vehicles have 2 or even all 3 out! It's just getting out of hand. It is DANGEROUS if they have no brake lights, who knows how long they have been out? Yea I had one go out, I got the bulb the day the light came on to tell me and had it fixed in a few more in the middle of winter, if it was summer it would of been the day I noticed. No reason anyone else can't do it. People need to stop being so lazy. I turn on all my lights and check them all the time, I check my lug nuts, tire pressure and everything else. I know it's not the norm anymore, because people are getting to stupid to be safe!!

I know DRL might not be a big deal, but the thing is, if it's a big foggy out on the highway, good luck seeing a while or silver vehicle with no headlights. They wouldn't be needed if people knew to turn on their lights when issues come up, but that doesn't happen, it's just another (almost) idiot proof thing.....

the guy shouldve just got a warning. but he did break the law. but how many of us have broke the "law" before?? alot of us including me. alota times i drive wit my driving lights off. if its foggy or snowy etc yes i will have lights ON. but for all u guys on here whining cause its such a "saftey" concern maybe u should get off the road!!! cuz i dont wanna be rolling down the road in front/ beside/ behind u cause obiviously u have the problem that u cant see a vehicle coming without lights on during the day. or that its "unsafe" for u. wat about the older vehicles without factory driving lights? they arent a concern to u? stop coming on here and picking on the guy. i could see if he was speeding or drunk or ect. its the same couple guys who are mister "perfect" and offer their 2cents. wat did all u guys do before the days of driving lights? mustve been accidents everyday.

i can understand cops havn to bypass some laws. they need to stay above us. if they were made equall no one would be scared of them.

neways thats wat i had to say. this is suposed to be a helpful friendly site and sum of u chose to run a guy down cuz of a silly ticket.:nono:

He did not state that it was foggy, you guys are jumping to conclusions here. Also, your crazy man...about a week ago I noticed later in the day my tail light was out. I had to drive into town to get a new one. If I would have been given a ticket, that would not have been fair either. As for this guy hating cops as mod says. I am not aware of this nor research this guy, just read his comment, and I do not speculate.

not sure where you are going with this but, the law is the law. the police can give you a ticket for any violation of the law. you have the right to dispute the ticket at the court house on the date on the ticket. the police can give you a warning or friendly reminder. usually depending on your attitude. obviously he has an attitude and got what he deserves, maybe follow modmans suggestion and look it up, instead of spewing BS, and whining about this poor boy with the tude.

i was wondering how long it would take before someone would get a ticket for that. you were not unaware your park brke was slightly on you put it on for that reason only that your lights would be off. don't bs. the light in your dash wasn't an indication something might be up? to many dip sticks do this and it is a safety issue for everybody on the road not just you. have you ever paid attention to how hard it is to see these vehicles coming towards you on a 2 lane whi,e it is snowing or raining. quite your whining and pay your ticket. it is the law you break it you have to pay. i am not saying that i do not break the law ever but i realize that if i do get caught i will be responsible for my decision to break said law. pay up and leave your park brake off so that your drls work. :realmad:

i have a 98 F 150 Manual Trans truck. When i park it i put the park break on and put it into gear. I have Noticed as this is my first winter with it that Depeding on the Conditions you have driven in last, How long you driven,What temperature,How long it idles after the parking break Can be a little slow Coming out. Even after Idleing for 20-30 mins. Sometime the Brake Light will Stay on so you know your DRLs are off But sometimes it will be off But no DRLs on. This is due to 2 clicks at the top or Stroke.

There is nothing wrong with The parking Brake system on my Truck, Some trucks arnt perfectly Designed.

The Remarks you and some others have left are completely and Utterly RUDE. Should you get a ticket for one of the Recalls that you NEW truck may have that you havent taken in for repair , because your too busy.

NO!

Cops should do a better job and give a warning for something like this not a ticket. Now i could see if he was speeding and the cop seen this . Then a ticket for Both may be right.

I recently Had my Drivers side Mirror Broken off my truck while in my driveway. I have been looking for one a an auto wreacker for the last 2 months. I Refuse to buy another Mirror new from Ford at 175$.

Should i get a ticket for this . Screw that. Ill just tell him thatSomeone broke it off last night and im waiting for the new one. All though i have heard you dont need Side mirrors unless you have a tinted Rear window.

I have better things to do then check up on someone, and what they have been posting. This is the first I saw. I am sure he will go fight it, but it's still bullchit. Get a stupid fine like that, if all the details are correct. Then you have to take a day off work to go down, and fight the ticket. Give me a break. I'm sure they know most people won't do that. Come on, we pay big tax dollars for what. Go chase pedophiles, keep us safe, that's what they get paid to do. I could care less about some guy without DRL's not being on in the daylight in town. Nuff time wasted on this topic Noah.

Yep, no shortage of preachers on this site. Makes me wonder how we all didn't die before vehicles had running lights.
