Next there will be whining about military vehicles not having/requiring insurance.
I am GLAD to here they are pulling people over who can't be bothered to make sure their lights are on! I almost hit someone on highway 2 because they couldn't be bothered to turn on their lights in pitch dark. Maybe they would of got the message if I ran them over? It might seem a bit over the top, but how many times do you see someone driving in the middle of the night on the highway with ZERO lights. Now add the fact that they are driving 80 km/h and a bit icy highway=accident waiting to happen!
I agree. Some of the responses to the initial post were pretty rude. This site isn't like that all the time though.
WTF does driving at night have to do with daytime running light tickets?
It's not the color thats the law it is the film on the window. Only manitoba and Quebec it's by color so pedestrians and other vehicles make eye contract to see what you are doing.
For the back windows dark as you want techically you don't need windows in the back like cube vans and semis....as long you have 2 outside mirrors
Pretty much the same thing DRL are required by law in canada to prevent accidents during the daytime when vision is obstructed on highways. No different not having them on then not having your lights on at night. Which is also against the law (obvious, but doesn't seem like it to some!)
This reminds me alot like snowest, someone makes a beef and all the dogooders jump down the guys throat.
We all can't be perfect like the rest of you...I don't walk around my truck with my checklist and check tire pressure, lights, brake wear, etc. everytime I jump in my truck.
He got a ticket for something that should have been a warning.
Why is everyone jumping on this dude!!! WTF.
1. He was driving in town. Don't remember ever not seeing vehicles because of their DRL's not on.
2. Is was daylight in town. Duh.....
3. Fog off. You never had a burnt out tail light, and someone else pointed it out to you. Good thing it wasn't the police. I think you might get 3 yrs for that.
There isn't more important things for them to do? He was probably just upset because his farts smell like burnt rubber from the night before.
I firmly believe cops should be pulling people over with a burnt out taillight, how many vehicles have 2 or even all 3 out! It's just getting out of hand. It is DANGEROUS if they have no brake lights, who knows how long they have been out? Yea I had one go out, I got the bulb the day the light came on to tell me and had it fixed in a few more in the middle of winter, if it was summer it would of been the day I noticed. No reason anyone else can't do it. People need to stop being so lazy. I turn on all my lights and check them all the time, I check my lug nuts, tire pressure and everything else. I know it's not the norm anymore, because people are getting to stupid to be safe!!
I know DRL might not be a big deal, but the thing is, if it's a big foggy out on the highway, good luck seeing a while or silver vehicle with no headlights. They wouldn't be needed if people knew to turn on their lights when issues come up, but that doesn't happen, it's just another (almost) idiot proof thing.....
i was wondering how long it would take before someone would get a ticket for that. you were not unaware your park brke was slightly on you put it on for that reason only that your lights would be off. don't bs. the light in your dash wasn't an indication something might be up? to many dip sticks do this and it is a safety issue for everybody on the road not just you. have you ever paid attention to how hard it is to see these vehicles coming towards you on a 2 lane whi,e it is snowing or raining. quite your whining and pay your ticket. it is the law you break it you have to pay. i am not saying that i do not break the law ever but i realize that if i do get caught i will be responsible for my decision to break said law. pay up and leave your park brake off so that your drls work.
not sure where you are going with this but, the law is the law. the police can give you a ticket for any violation of the law. you have the right to dispute the ticket at the court house on the date on the ticket. the police can give you a warning or friendly reminder. usually depending on your attitude. obviously he has an attitude and got what he deserves, maybe follow modmans suggestion and look it up, instead of spewing BS, and whining about this poor boy with the tude.
