Do you actually believe that the union voters are any more organized or informed than the general population? I can tell you that they’re not. Union leaders do support the socialist candidates often, but the memberships usually don’t obey and don’t pay any more attention than the average joe. You can blame the unions if it makes you feel better, but the truth is that conservative candidates lost because they can’t get anyone to care about municipal elections. Urban elections always go progressive and rural go conservative Because the urban progressives are better at organizing the women and the men that wish they were. I drove past my polling station on Monday twice a couple of hours apart hoping the lineup would go away, and it was noticeable that there were very few men in line. It never got shorter by the last time I drove by, so I finally had to stand in line for 40 minutes to vote. 90% of the lineup was female. Dozens of men walked up, saw the line and left.
The voter turnout in the cities was about 35%. In calgary the new douchebag mayor got about 40% of the turnout in order to win. Doing the math, roughly 14% of the electorate in calgary put her in power. I’m sure the same is true in Edmonton.
The progressives know how little turnout is required to put their candidates in power and make the effort to zero in on and get out their voters. They communicate better and are better organized. The conservatives Are none of the above.
The urban progressives candidates won because the conservative candidates were disorganized, fractured and complacent. The unions didn’t win the election, conservative inaction and complacency lost it.

More organized, absolutely just by the volume that work together.
Union leaders definatly support an agenda to support who serves there interest.
As an ex union member with family that are union members, ya 100% union agenda from union management affects the outcome of elections by directing voting.
Not all members follow but from what I have seen the majority follow hands down!
By not having the large working groups and the same volume of management pushing everything non union will "look disorganized" but really lacks the the sheer volume of top end organizers.
Nobody actually believes all those managers are there just for real work.

Makes me wonder who’s getting out to vote, Edmonton votes in anti oil Sohi and Calgary votes in a female version of Nenshi. diversity is our strength I guess, lol.

And that’s the same guy that doesn’t realize that his phone (which most people nowadays use for an alarm) changes over (or used to) automatically

It would be nice if Calgary matched FSJ time all year. It's a royal pain for meetings at work when we run different times.

A lot of people don't realize that a lot of devices that they own are now hard-coded for the current DST time changes twice a year. If we make the switch to no changes some will have more "stuff" that isn't at the correct time. It will be a PITA for a bit.

Most have selectable auto DST, so it shouldn't be much of an issue. On the plus side, we can stop changing the time on grandma's vcr twice a year.

My favourite is guys in the fall that are late because they forgot to set there alarm clock back. The look on their face when I explain that they’d be early if that was the case.

We have that same issue in Lloyd. If we go 40 minutes east it Sask time. Booking jobs can be confusing if don't remember to confirm who's 8 o'clock to be there for

Meh, Pretty minor issue really, all of our devices in sask still have the correct time, cell phones get updated by the cell network anyway.

I have to lock my phone on time zone we in. If not phones will switch time in my yard even depending on weather it picks up the sasktel tower or telus tower. I am 6 miles East of the border

Yeah that part would be a pain in the ass for ya, no doubt about it. And like you said confirming on who's 8 o'clock you are agreeing too would get tiring too.

I would think the people on the east side of the province would be more for it due to the sunrise/sunset times not being that bad, but the further you get west the worse it would be.

Can definitely understand niners point of having to light up job sites longer in the morning would be a pain and cost more....

Definitely not a one size fits all solution.
