I've used them before for wood peckers on the sides of cedar siding houses. They are good until the reflective layer deteriorates due to the elements.
Then I used pieces of galvanized tin (old furnace ducting) hung with fishing line.

and or Mylar ribbon . I had a battle with flickers a few years back , the bastards pecked through my cedar gable vent and then starlings moved in .
