CV boots... How hard to replace?

I find vice grips and a flat screw driver works way better....feed it through the buckle by hand and tight as you can get it by hand clamp the vice grips as close to the buckle as you can then pry the screw driver between the VG and the buckle if it get too far apart move VG closer pry again when super tight bend the VG over the buckle and cut off the tail. I also give it a couple taps with a hammer to kink it good then I put a wrap of electrical tape to cover the clamp just for the heck of it.

Yep, exactly how I did mine on the AC when I replaced both outter cv joints, because the previous owner didn't know it was a bad thing that the boots were mostly missing.

We are talking about two different pairs of clamps dude, these ones don't have excess to snip off, you crush them and they crimp and stay that way.
