A friend of mine dropped her I4 on the concrete, and pretty much spider webbed her screen. I know that it's only around 30 bucks, to fix a 3G.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a place here in Cowtown, for less than $150.00???

thats the major downfall to the iphone 4, looks pretty but everyone has to armor them up so they cover up the good looking outside... and no warranty covers it unless you drop it in the apple store. i would call a few telus stores and bell stores, someone there might now of a guy or business that will do them for cheaper than $150

fyi i dropped my samsung galaxy s on concrete about 45 times and threw it twice, once against the windshield of my truck... the windshield lost that battle and no crack on the phone

Depending how big of a rush she is in, here's a site with coloured housings for the iPhone and original colours. We turned my brothers red (not through this exact site) about a year ago when he smashed his and it was fairly simple to do. Spent around $100 on the tool kit they sell to do it, and the covers.

http://www.iphixphones.com/categories/Shop-iPhone/Conversion-Kits/

And a video how to replace it. The battery is glued down and doesn't come out nearly as easy as in the video.

My bother has the galaxy and said he liked the iphone better, except for the fact that it's more fragile and slower internet, said texting is horrible on it plus no other can compete for apps. But other then that the iphone is better. But don't take it the wrong way, the iphone 4g is a POS. On my second one in about 5 months and it's finished to, not even from dropping. Nothing works properly, not that it was working when it was new to begin with.....

O and how old is the phone? If it's very old it's not worth replacing the screen. A iphone is guaranteed to self destruct after so long no matter what so it's kinda useless replacing the screen. I honesty believe they do it on purpose. Once I updated my 3g and it crashed took it to apple store they said it was finished have to buy new, managed to fix it with another program and could never update it with apple again or it would kick it into safe mode (tried 3 computers). But no problems with other programs.

They didn't like it when I told them I am SURE they do that on purpose to force you to buy a new phone.....

Lmfao programmed to self destruct. Sounds like your the one the school system failed.

The only problem with the iPhones are the screens break, and the battery is chit.

I shattered my iPhone, took it out of the otter for one day to clean it. I ran it naked and that sucker is slippery. Squirted right out of my pocket and it smashed. I took it to the apple store and they replaced it for free, I only had it for 5 weeks though. The girl said she was doing me a "solid" haha. She recommended against changing the screen with aftermarket because of warranty issues.
i would try there first, make your best puppy dog eyes and hope for the best!

Where did I say the word programmed? I didn't.

I said on purpose they won't fix it to get you to buy a new one. They make them to last a 1.5 years tops on purpose, usually they only last 4-6 months. There is no money in it for them if a phone is lasting 4-5 years. They want you buying a new one every year atleast.......Give me a good reason why they can't reinstall the OS to get it working again but I can, without jailbreaking or anything like that? They didn't even say it was possible they physically said it's broken and can't be fixed.

Been meaning to buy a case but never have, dropped it a few times. Every time I take it to Apple they tell me to buy one and I tell them i'll spend the money on a case when the phone works properly. Probably the reason 6 months later I still don't got a case.....

Seriously thinking about turning it back in and getting the galaxy or something else instead.

You pretty much hafta buy a box for em outta the gate. Their just too fragile for the blue collars. They make a nice case now, life force or case or something. Comes with a 80 dollar price tag though, but dust proof, waterproof blah blah.
i have otter boxes but they have holes in em and I keep getting sand/ grit inside it thus grinding on my phone and screen. Imgonna upgrade soon, plus it's sleeker then a otter.

I like the griffin case I have on my iPhone 4. Dropped it numerous times without breaking anything yet (knock on wood lol).

It's a thin case, hard plastic so it doesn't stick inside your pocket, and it was $30. I've had it for a year now too so I think it's safe to say it was a $30 well spent.

Your point? The 4G is exactly the same phone except for a few little things. I should of just got another 3G. And news flash the apple store will still sell you a 3G so not that outdated and that was only a few months ago.

I have a 3G and have had it for close to a year now, it get's updated monthly off of my laptop. I have never had an issue with ANY upgrades.
Every 3-4 days I have to shut it off and reboot it for about 2 mins, but then good to go. I have also never own a case or belt clip for it.
