Cracked cylinder in 2010 Polaris RMK

What would cause a cracked cinder and melted piston ? Sled has about 3500 miles on it. Is this common on the 600 ?

Cinder = Cylinder

I haven't heard of this being a common problem. I'm sitting at around 3000 miles on ours and so far so good.

Maybe piston hooked the cylinder skirt & cracked cylinder & melted could be detonation ??

Sorry I don't have pics the sled and hubby were picked up on the trail and the sled dropped at the repair shop and hubby was dropped at home lol I think the plan is to resleeve the cylinder and pick it up when it's fixed.
