I just finishing up a true 14 days of quarantine after travelling.

My whole family has also been tested, and we are all negative!

I would like to go for a rip in the hills before I even contaminate myself with a grocery store trip. I have enough fuel and food to make a trip without even going into a store. I’ll sleep and piss in my trailer.

I’d be the safest guy on the snow!

Fawk even my hippycrit sisters from Vancouver ran away from Bc to come hide at my parents in Alberta. But a guy can’t go the other way using safe practices without the pitchforks coming out?

It's all about reducing public contact as much as possible. Not sure why board games, Lego or baking are any "better" than sledding, ice fishing or burning chit in the fire pit if it is with the same folks you would be doing the indoor activities with.

I'm all for eliminating "vacation travel" where you need hotels, restaurants & other services but for a family to load up a trailer and head to a trail or field or lake should not be discouraged - it can be done under quarantine conditions assuming that you pack your own food & supplies and avoid other people.

I put over 100km on my sled and burned a 1/4 cord of wood this past weekend all while obtaining zero public contact. I also worked on a puzzle with my wife & kids and drank a chit ton of beers. The only service I required was a stop at the gas station which was done wearing gloves and using Tap to pay (there is no pay @ the pump at my local shell)

We don't need to lock ourselves in our houses, fresh air and sun are good for us and help to strengthen our immune systems. I still come to my office every day where we maintain 6ft separation and continuously sanitize EVERYTHING. I still put fuel in my truck and am enjoying Whopper Wednesday with drive through and Tap.

Get outside and enjoy the sun & snow while we still have it, just don't go "vacationing" where you require public services.

A great example, this is how one should go sledding right now solitary family with trailer staying away from others. Eliminate the need to use hotels, restaurants and reduce exposure with other public services (ie gas station). There are some who are able to do this, many who live in areas outside the mountains who cannot go sledding without having a place to stay (hotel) or eat (restaurant). Less exposure is better. What are you willing to risk?

If you or anybody else looks at the data from the H1N1 virus when it rampaged the globe and compare it to this CoVid19 virus,...….

IMHO, it is a big joke with the precautions that are being taken and it is going to be more scary getting the economy going after this chit show than the havoc the virus is going to cause.

You are more than welcome to join me on an ambulance moving a ventilated Covid19 patient between facilities. I'd even get you the proper PPE (personal protection equipment) to use but sounds like you don't need it or believe its needed! I'm not looking forward to that day when this becomes necessary but this day will come.

People are dying from this. Health care organizations are still figuring this out, Covid19 is not SARS, not MERS or H1N1. H1N1 did have a vaccine in one year, to date, there still is no vaccine for SARS. And SARS cannot thrive in the human body whereas Covid19 can thrive and spread. Covid19 is so more contagious.

Covid19 has extended incubation periods and a viral shedding prior to onset of symptoms. You don't need to be symptomatic to have it or spread it.

Pre-existing comorbid conditions increase the risk of death, this includes those diagnosed with varied conditions or those who don't yet know they have certain risk factors because they haven't had the doctor visit to diagnose it, such as cardiovascular disease - when was your last coronary angiogram? or Diabetes - what's your A1C? Respiratory disease - do you smoke or vape? Hypertension? Cancer? All increased risk factors that make you at higher risk for poor outcomes including death.

We all need to practice social distancing responsibly to help minimize the number of people who contract Covid19. We need to work together to limit exposure to one another — especially with older adults and people with underlying illness who have the greatest risk of developing severe symptoms. To do so keeps the healthcare system from becoming overwhelmed where physicians & all ICU staff could be put in a place to decide who gets a ventilator vs who doesn't -your parent vs his older brother, etc. Do we want to come to that...stay tuned.

But I do agree with you that the economy is terrible, getting worse and will have a scary reckoning when this is over. At that point though, no longer should there be a virus that is killing people.

So for all of you who say do not go snowmobiling because you are part of the problem. Have you totally quarantined yourself in your home? Do you not go and get groceries for home the same as you would for sledding? (If you have them delivered you can still catch it from packaging) Do you not fuel up your vehicles to go to work same as you would to go sledding? You say do not put a strain on healthcare by increasing your chance of being hurt but I have said for years that the most dangerous part of sledding for me is driving down hwy 2 from Edmonton to Calgary heading to Sicamous. Even when the parking lots are full we go ride and hardly see anyone on the Mountain all day. And if we do see someone its a wave usually from a distance. I get it stay out of the restaurants and hotels and large gathering areas. But there are tons of guys like myself who own places in the Mountains and can go ride and social distance just as much as being at home. Have any of you thought why places like China, Italy and New York got hit so bad? Think of how close they live together, think of how all these places have no personal space! The busiest you can imagine around here like an NHL game is daily life to them. I get being cautious but unless you have totally quarantined yourself at home then you are no different than the guys who are getting out for a rip up the hill. Preaching on here or anywhere on social media is not going to change things. Ride on guys and gals who have the opportunity!

So the concensus is no day trips? Or even if a person were to stay the night in their trailer and isolate themselves from others, cok and eat in it or bbq outside. There would be No stoping at restaurants or hotels to and from. Pack a lunch drive out, ride and return home. I don't see the huge problem. Still practicing distancing.
