Cordless drill on an ice auger

Anyone using a cordless drill on an ice auger.
How is it working?
I see lots auger for cordless drill at the Fishing hole, Cabelas and CT. Also lots of adapters for a hand drill.
I used my Makita cordless which worked but struggled, only about 350 inch pounds.
So bought a $230 Makita with over 1,100 inch pounds worked great until it started blowing the stator.
Now after the 4th stator got a letter stating this is not covered by warranty.
So are the other drill manufacturers working good or burning up also.

I use a milwalkee hammer/ regular drill. In 3' of ice you will get about 15 holes per 5.0 battery. after 5-7 holes you have to give the drill a rest or it will overheat. Burnt 1 down doing 15 holes with out stopping. this is with a strikemaster 8" auger attachment. works pretty good but have to let the drill do the work don't force it. I like to just chase old holes if possible. get about 30 holes per battery then.

the e-40 eskimo purpose built auger is the cats ass. thats the next one I will get, but im happy with what i'm using atm.

I used my DeWalt 20v drill with an adapter, works awesome.

I use an 18v cordless and haven't had any issues at all. get enough holes to keep the kids happy and just pack an extra battery incase

I have a Milwaukee and a ridgid that both do the job. the auger is just an 8" hand auger and a $10 attachment from Canadian Tire.

I just bought this today as a backup Makita DDF489RTX1 because my other Makita has drilled a lot of holes, I have had it for at least 7 years would never go back to a gas auger

I also have the clam adapter plate which is a must so much easier to handle not sure if your drill is a brushless motor but it has to be.

This time ( the 4th ) they replaced the stator and rotor so hopefully doesn't burn out again.
No problem drilling before it burn out
Took 42 seconds to get though 3 feet of ice last year.

I have Canadiantire maximum battery tools, i first tried the 40v impact it worked great for about 2 seconds, it snapped the nut right off of the auger attachment. So i bought another brand new auger attachment and this time i took 40 hammer drill. It took about 4 seconds to go through a foot of ice.

mini grinder is amazing, circular saw is awesome, 20v impact the high torque (700ft/lbs} puts out about 300 ftlbs, reciprocating saw is not that great maybe 5 minutes run time. 20v impact driver works good that little thing will take off atv nuts easily drive 4 inch screws. 40v impact not sure how much ft/lbs it does yet 40v drill hammer drill works good, orbital sander works good. The 40volt tools are not the makita but the German Hazet impacts.
