Coolant handlebars

Anyone think of making there own coolant heated handlebars? Seems like it would be pretty easy to drill an tap a couple of holes in centre, not sure what I’d use on ends yet, they’d have to work with bark busters, seems silly to spend $300 on new bars when I have them already too.

Did you thread the ends of the bars? Will the coolant cycle threw the bars good from the middle or did you have it....in one end out the other type thing?

I've built a set too, not super easy but has worked very well for me. Coolant will not circulate to the ends if you simply have an inlet and an outlet near the center. Run a piece of 1/4" soft copper tube thru the entire bar. Then I drilled and tapped three holes, an inlet and an outlet and a center hole where you inject something to block the flow. Coolant goes in one hole, floods that end of the bar (stopped by the injected blockage) travels thru the copper tube to the other end, floods that end and then flows out the opposite hole. I used solid threaded plugs for the bar ends and tapped the bar ends for them. Then I drilled and tapped the solid plugs just short of all the way thru for my handguard bolts. Tapping the bar ends was tough, need a good sharp tap or the bar will expand while you try and tap and makes it very tough.
I drilled my three holes in between the bar clamps to keep the bars strong. The original Raze and C3 bars had the holes on the outside and were prone to bar bending.

I got 2, 16mm bolt, machined head to 7/8 then tapped hole for hand guards. Then tapped bar ends. Put a piece of 1/8 air brake tube in the bars. Drill and tap for hoses. And fill center with hi temp silicone. Silicone on 16mm bolts in end.

you need to tube the inside to get it to flow from one side through to the other and out for best effect.
