Vortex is a great scope, I put a diamondback 3x9x40 on the wives 243 x-bolt and worked well at the range a few weeks ago. I bought myself a Sako 85 Barvarian 30-06 and was looking at putting on a high quality Vortex on it, but after looking around last weekend for a bit, I ended up going with Leupold VX-3. 4.5x14x40 boone and crockett. Leupold has a great warranty as well. I'll post a pic of it shortly.

Same as the scope I have on my 300. Love the scope, took a bit to get use to the cross hairs but once you do you'll never regret it.

Was tossing around the vx3 as well but warranty is good but not as good...you find the leupold lets in as much light or do you find with the bigger zoom lose some light?

No light issues at all.
Clear as air at dusk and zoomed in all the way.

I've got the Leopoldo VX-3, 3.5X10X50 on my Tikka 300. Love the scope and would buy another one.

Sorry had tooooo

Yeah I haven't been to successful at finding elk the past 2 yrs when actually out hunting them. Seem to find them easily enough any other time of the year when you aren't allowed to shoot them.

Trijicon or EO Tech are nice optics. Fairly reasonable price. Guess I should add vortex as well They do make tactical ones to.

Lar 15 pistol mags with coupler came in today, should double the fun. Anybody have any recommendations for optics for this thing?
Nice gun. I went with a VX-R 3-9. Love it.
