conditions in crowsnest

ok peeps. thinking of heading out for a day ride to crowsnest or fernie. new to the area. gonna do some easy liesure riding. anyone been out last couple days that can give everyone some updates on conditions? maybe some ideas where to go? read around and doesnt seem to be many new posts about conditions

I'm with you!!! I will be heading out to Fernie in about a week...... The snow report looks good but haven't really talked to any sledders, I would like to find out current conditions in the rolling hills and around wranglers cabin first hand by real riders not just what hotel staff has to say (although there opinion is much appreciated) Thanks

We unloaded at the new staging spot past the dump, pretty sketch on the trail or road until u get to the leech creek turn

Lots of junk still out there. Both days we probed, found 3-4 ft everywhere, no more than that. Roads have even less where they are packed. Rode the trails/roads mainly, some spots in the trees that have OK snow but you still need to be careful, overall needs 2-3 ft more before it will be even decent and to cover a lot of the little stuff still out there. Lots of willows on the back trails and lots of stumps hidden just below the surface. Dug a snow pit and found a nice stump just 6" below surface, couldnt even see it without digging. There is no snow in the pass, you will have to drive to Corbin or Fernie to ride. Even the turn to Corbin is pretty bare and Fernie in town is pretty skinny.

Actually window mountain has the most snow in the Pass area. We were up their ski touring on Sat and Sun and up high in the trees probed 5 feet, definately shrinks as U come down. But that being said Castle mountain is reporting a 110cm base from mid mountain up and 45 at the bottom, haven't been up that way yet so no clue. Haven't been out to Corbin or Barnes since last monday/tuesday and they were very good where we probed 4-5 feet in places. ( In the trees it was awesome but have to watch out for drainage runoffs and creeks which don't seem to be completely frozen)

Can always use more snow and the forecsat doesn't have a huge amount in the next week, maybe a foot in the fernie region this week and it snowed 3 inches in the pass this am. with flurries forecast for the next 2 days. Supposed to be colder this week as well which might freeze up the creeks.

Rode corbin pipe line to wranglers cabin today, broke trail the whole way in, powder coming up over the hood. but still no base really, gotta be really careful where your going, lots of the litttle creeks are still open.

into the wrangler cabin/pipe line. 4-5 feet lots of pow,watch out for a few creeks open and a few stumps. trail in rough butt well worth the trip from calgary.

so with the latest snow are all hidden rocks covered well enought that your hit nothing, seen a few carnages a few weeks ago at the shop and dont want to be a statistic
