with the trottle held open, plugs all out, engine cold pull 4-5 times record the readings one cyl at a time, shoukd be within 15% of eachother max any more you will have to repair
I just did a compression test on my polaris 98 xlt triple w/pipes and I notice mine only tested 75 - 80psi, seems awfully low but all consistent. Would a coil be a possibilty? This past week was riding on the river and my belt broke and some was rapped around the primary clutch, got it started and now seems to run run on just two cylinders until you get the rpm's then she will run but really bogs to take off. Any Ideas?
if its bogging in the bottom after you blew a belt and it wrapped up in your clutch the first thing id do is go thbrough your clutches and clean them then try it because it sounds to me like its sticking or maybey a broken spring possibly
Yup, around 120 is where you wanna be. As for the belt going on you, someone mentioned the crank seal. BINGO! Check that thing for sure, I shattered a belt at about 80mph and the bands inside the belt got wrapped around the inside of my primary, cut into the rubber seal, and tore the thing out. It is an easy check to pull the clutch off and inspect it, way better than having a lean burndown on the engine because of it...
