Don't believe everything you read. No reliable source from the writer or anything cited. Just a bunch of BS.

The North Face does not support the closure of motorized recreation. If any of you ski or snowboard you would be familiar with a large scale film company called Teton Gravity Research (TGR). Of note is that the title sponsor is TNF. For the most part a good portion of their movie is heli and snowmobile skiing of which most of there athletes are on sleds, are known TNF athletes and are visible in the films wearing TNF and sled skiing the coast. They promote this film, they promote their athletes and they promote their lifestyles. You think if they were against motorized recreation that they would not partner with these athletes or this film company. Just because some guy started a blog and wrote some uncited **** on the internet does not mean it is true....

How do we get involved? Is it a petition kind of deal or do we send in friendly letters to our local reps?

I have no knowledge of this particular issue, but my many years of experience in the land use battle have taught me that sitting at your computer and signing an online petition....or writing letters to any number of politicians....has little to no effect. Showing up in masse to a public meeting about the issue and making a lot of noise has been working for the leaf lickers for years, and it'll work for us too. Just gotta get off our butts and show up. Seems simple enough, but rarely happens. Nobody cares till the signs go up.....then it's my fault!

Rant over.

Darn.. I couldn't find the particular smiley face I was looking for........

Team Dirt, I don't Ski or Snowboard, but my kids do. I am not anti Board, Ski, snowshoeing for that matter.... I am done with eco groups being funded by unsuspecting companies with an alternative agenda. It's crap in my opinion. We all have the right to enjoy our surroundings, and one sport doesn't trump another. No I don't board or ski. I snowmobile.. and I am not going to sit by and let our name be dragged through the mud. I will fight for our lands. I'll fight for our sport. We have a right to enjoy our sport. All of us do. I think it is quite funny in fact... a local biologist actually made mention of targeting the skiers and boarders in our Caribou closed areas as they cause more stress to the Bou than the sledders do... then what... NO ONE gets to enjoy... be passive aggressive with your little snide comments here... I'm more of an in your face person. this is what I believe in. If you choose to pretend that this is not the agenda of some. That is fine. You and I will not be bffs. But I believe in our people, our clubs, and our sport. So This is where I stand. I'll post up more pretty quick.

What Companies SUPPORT Snowmobiling??????
I know 509 Donates to the CAC each season on behalf of Snowmobilers
Motorfist recently put out an advertisement to support ABCSnow Clubs and regularly support Clubs

I'll believe what I see... and from what I've personally seen......... I stand by my first and second post. Completely. Start listing the companies that support the sport we love.

I don't believe even half of what I read. That's why I looked up the cited links in the article to verify if this is legit or not. At least the ones I had time to check are legit. I don't believe that some of these companies are even fully aware of what precisely they are supporting. Just look at the long list of non-profit organizations supported by REI on their website.

For some silly reason, for many years, there has always been some kind of animosity between the "human-powered" and sledder crowd. Logically, there is absolutely no reason for it - period.

I love what you wrote just now. An awesome dude messaged me earlier, reaching out to me in frustration, knowing that I am part of the "media". Why does it have to be an us or them? At this point, if we, as sledders contribute to any sort of an ecological conservation effort, we're shooting ourselves in the foot. Most of us are nature loving people. Responsible, wanting the sheer power of "nature" to survive for an eternity. But........... if we reach out to conserve...... we are hooped, for those we lend support to, have an agenda wanting to shut us down. As a sledder, who has been kissing distance close to a Caribou many times........ I'm pretty sure they don't give a rats butt that I am there......... I've seen studies...... I know that we , in my area, are not a threat to the Bou.... yet someone's skewed agenda says it's so... so who do I fight and who do I support???? I'm for my sport, but not against the Caribou.
The only way I'm thinking is to work together all of us, no matter what the sport. NOT against!!
Access BC is reaching out to us... that is 5000 strong...... but what... .. what if ALL of the winter enthusiasts banded together and had a unified power willing to work with conservation groups? Would it disrupt the Yellowstone to Yukon agenda?
Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative ? Y2Y

Would we have enough power to simply be able to access care for and utilize the land around us?
We only want Access........ all of us want Access. to Crown land.......

I wish! In law it still belongs to the Queen of England.....managed for her by the Federal Government of Canada. Had a bit of a hissy fit when I learned that a few years ago!

and in turn managed by each of the Provinces and/or Territories?

There are some Dominion Coal Blocks in the Kootenay's that are really managed by the Federal Government. The lease for our new cabin is from Natural Resources Canada.
