If you are unfamiliar with fernie is it a waste of time going? A couple buddies were there and nobody wanted to lend a hand. A guy in one of the sled shops wouldn't say a word unless you spend a ton of money. I know Valemount, MacBride, even Revy people bend over backwards to help somebody out. Its too bad people think there better cause there local.

Fernie is a great place, locals seem real nice, me and a group were there on Saturday riding Coal Creek area. Pack out what you pack in, and say or wave hello to strangers, I always throw the Ozzy horns while I ride by other groups.:d

Anyone know for sure if Fernie is a safer bet right now than Revy and Valemount/Blue in terms of hitting rocks and stuff. I here almost nothing but bad things about Valemount/Revy so far although Blue River got a foot in town last night not sure if that's enought or not.

Ski resort says they got 18 cm last night......could be worse
hope this helps, it's getting dark but on their mountian cams it looks like they are getting dumped on.....

Personally, I don't think it matters where you go for these early season rides, chit is going to happen. We have to be smarter than rocks, stumps, creeks, and the old trail where someone has beat down the pow to the dirt.

We were in the trees quite often on last Friday and no carnage but we were careful and made a point of floating (ie didn't have the throttle to the bar)! It was a lot of fun. With not much of a base, it is quite easy to spin out on the frozen ground or the rocks.

Another dump is forecast shortly and we had 3-4" today (8-10 cm)....getting nice a little at a time.....
