Jerry from Central Sled and Cycle just called.
Arctic Cat is going to warranty that clutch. And all the damage it caused.
Can't tell you how happy that makes me.
As of now the only issue he said is getting a purple left side panel. It could be a long while. Which is fine. I have all summer.

I'm just super happy with Central and Cat for getting this done.

This is fantastic news I am happy you are being taken care of by AC and Central Sled. This is also a good sign that AC is stepping up and will fix this Team pileup. I would expect an exchange program or recall of some type this fall when AC has Adapt inventory.

About 13 months

Well hopefully they are willing to help me out as well. Just sent them an email tonight of the below photos. I was luckier than you however, just got back from a 2 day trip and 150 miles, doing my post trip clutch inspection. Glad I caught this, new clutch and it'll be ready to rip again! I have just over 1500 miles, all stock. Warranty for me ended November 2020. Clutch Inner Sheave Crack 1.jpg

I've been waiting 3+ weeks for an answer now. Same thing, crack in one sheave.

Who did you submit the claim through? If it is going to take a while I’ll be buying a new clutch and putting on for rest of season, then keep as a spare or sell.

I went through Central Sled and Cycle. Same place that got RXN covered. Might have to make some noise with Cat as well.

Planned on getting new primaries for next season anyway, but I also planned on selling my current ones to offset the cost a bit. Wouldn't expect to have one cracked at 1400km.

weights, springs, bushings and rollers are all wear items. Clutch sheaves are not. Should be no waiting to hear back on warranty IMO. Dealer should be running it through as a regular claim. If its off warranty then perhaps Cat would do good will. If not I would talk to my lawyer and take them to small claims court. Its a safety issue.

Talk to a lawyer over a $1000 issue? lol That gives me about 1 quick phone call and a letter.

Better than getting a clutch in the face?

From the stories I read, I think Cat has been covering these quite well....even heard of some being covered that are out of warranty .

Interesting how the BRP'd crowd posts on hereso often....seems like more than actual Cat owners.....hmmmm....stirring the pot????

lol

I agree potentially a very serious issue, but I think Cat's warranty coverage has been better than some manufacturers...Doo you agree?

I know you would like it to be stirring the pot but it isn't. I have been apart of a few safety bulletins in my dealership years and to me this is a safety issue. All brand bashing aside I'm not that diehard that I'm cheering for flying clutch pieces hitting riders no matter the color of their jacket. I hope that is clear enough?

oh, of course no one would want that and I was not even leaning in that direction to assume you were...
i just find it interesting how much the competitors show interest in the shortcoming (albeit a fairly large shortcoming) of another brand....that's all...carry on

Honestly I'm shocked more guys aren't upset to be honest. I'd be flipping out if it was me. I saw more emotion about belts blowing on Gen 4's than this? Lol

Bah , you got a way better chance of dying from covid. Does anyone , anywhere , ever , know anyone who actually got hurt from a Cat clutch ???. Yep it’ sucks , wrecks panels and hoods and belly pans , but clutch in the face or death by primary , ....... anyone , .... ever ?.
Overdosing on Poolaid or even worse , Doolaid , that’s dangerous ! That $hit can kill you !

Haha I have a buddy that oval raced and blew a primary clutch on the front straight and they found parts on the backstretch of a 1/2 mile oval. Blew the hood off his race sled and those sleds have a completely enclosed clutch guard on them. Footrest was dented out as well. To me thats scary.

On the assender and proclimb facebook group a guy did post pictures of his foot.
Pieces blew through the the toe guard and his boot. So it does happen. Probably very rare tho.

And about being flippen POd about it. I can assure you I'm pretty pissed.
I did send emails to Cat and Textron and Teams
But at the end of the day whining and crying doesn't get you anywhere

And cat is replacing my broken parts on a machine without warranty. So I'm pretty happy about that. The long wait for these parts is a tick off.

I was five feet from getting a face full when RXNs went off.

I have seen a couple foot injuries from it. RXN would have been one had he not been wrong foot forward on the other side.

I remember when my 16 blew on me and it was loud and scary, which was just the spider cracking and sent the weight flying. I cant even imagine the entire primary grenading.
