Our trip was great. weather started off cold Sat AM but warmed up nicely. Snow was awesome. We found some perfect spots to play in and have Sara show us her riding skills:eek:. We made it to Swan Hills very easily no problems at all. Trail well marked all the way. Few trees down on the Swan Hills side but OK to ride. We stayed at the Grizzly Motel. Very basic rooms. The place was old but has new owners who have plans to do a major renovations in the spring. They have really cleaned up the place and were very friendly towards snowmobilers. They allowed us to socialize in the entryway, brought us ice, extra chairs whatever we needed. They even drove us downtown Sunday morn for breakfast.
Sunday we took a shortcut across Roche Lake and seen even more trail and found a few spots to fool around in. Each way was about 110 kms.
We will do again next year but would like to do these ride more often.
Thanks for all those who came on this ride.

Normally we try to ride from Athabasca to Swan Hills, but haven't yet this year. We had heard that the river bank was washed out really bad, is it okay?

A couple of team Sledbunnyracing sleds were in town riding with another crew. Two of us stayed the night with plans too hook up with our home club, the Snow Angels, for supper. We were a bit late - we weren't lost, we just didn't know where we were.
Thanks to the Angels for sharing your Pizza. CJ and I had a blast with the club.
The Grizzly in Swan Hills is a basic hotel but more than made up with their excellent hospitality.
CJ and I rode Sunday as wall, found some awesome pockets of powder.

Hi Lynn,

the east bank was quite steep, but as bogger has said the Snow Angels have put an ramp down onto the river for easy access onto and off of the east side of the river. Was a fantastic ride Saturday and Sunday, found some really good snow to play in. Thank Glen for leading the pack to Swan Hills.

Was great to meet Badmonkey and his wife as well!

Grizzly Motel was very hospitable and clean, very friendly, and welcoming. Would stay there again..... too bad they didn't have shampoo though, hey Glen?
