Chinese diesel heaters for enclosed sled trailer

They have Pex line on underside of trailer and use a Wabasco heaters to heat the coolant.

Out of curiousity, did they put a false floor in? I ask as I thought about this a number of years ago and with the way most cross members are laid out under the trailer, it would be been difficult to run lines and properly insulate them. Always thought the easiest way would have been to put a false floor above the existing and run lines between.

You could do a false floor but that would add a lot of weight. Easiest way is to just close in the bottom of the cross members with a thin sheet of aluminum or plastic. Then the space in between becomes dead air space and if you do spray-in insulation, the floor will stay really warm. Seen set ups where the guys ran a couple switchback loops in each space and then just 1 hole in a cross member to run to the next flooring section. Put the piping right against the flooring and then spray-in over the piping, floor stays warm. If you get a coolant leak though, its a lot of effort to fix and there is a lot of complexity with pumps, radiator etc.

No false floor,lines ran lengthways with trailer big project I think,no rads.The also have forced air heat as well.

What you guys think is best for putting these heaters into storage. 1 Run Dry 2 Just drain tank 3 Run for a couple hours each month through the summer. Any others Ideas?

Other than the fans, there is no moving internal parts. Drain tank and leave fuel in line to keep pump seals lubricated. Diesel has a long shelf life, I've put some diesel cleaner in and ran it just to be safe, but haven't really noticed any difference. Fire up maybe once in the off season for 20 mins, that's all.

Have a 550cca rv battery deep cycle
Probably don’t need generator on with 6 amp battery minder all night.

We were wanting to run a bit of duct work from front of trailer to rear. You guys having any trouble with fan working to hard to push air through something like Black Plastic pipe?

None here either, that's how I have mine plumbed, about 1/2 way down the length of the trailer, to get heat to the rear. Fans should push enough heat. All I would add is that maybe use galvanized or something for the first few feet. I tried the white ABS sewer pipe before and it discoloured pink and reddish brown (like to the point it made me concerned that it couldn't handle the heat). Good practice is also to leave a small air gap between the wall and the pipe in the first few feet, just to avoid direct contact to the wall. I've got 1/4" and it seems OK, wall doesn't seem to get hot.

Same no problems. I drilled holes at 45 degree angle towards floor but aimed under sleds.

You guys find it is also a good idea to try and keep it off the floor to keep ducting from being damaged by loose stuff on the floor?

Yes, my heater is mounted on a stand

This year hunting I will lay a insulated tarp on the floor, Then the rv matt. Be a warmer floor then

I think I'm going to order one and install it in the hunting camper. Take some load off the forced air furnaces.

Am really happy. Only thing is sound of fuel pump. It is a bit loud

There has got to be a way to insulate it further to deaden the sound of the pump. Can't be any louder than a forced air furnace
