little further than 80km, that would put you in mcbride roughly as the crow flies

Is it more trail riding with meadows? Or can you get some hillclimbing?

Hillclimbing areas there for sure.

The terrain ranges from easy for a family outing, to extreme.

Just past groundhog lake is a great hill.
And yet the whole family can ride up to the lake, and enjoy the cabin.
Then anyone wanting extreme only needs to ride about 2 minutes to some nasty slopes.
You can see a few from the cabin itself, or if you want steeper yet, head past the cabin and follow the little valley to the left.
Ride up there just a short ways and lots of BIG hills.

If you find the backside off of yanks, there is some great hillclimbs back there.

Ask the locals where the hill is that the old cat 600 powder special was just left in the trees after a bad crash about 4 years ago....they will give you directions in, as most know where it is.
It can be a little hard to find your way across the ridge the first time, there is no real trail to follow.
Yanks peak itself is not hard to climb, its a mild hill.
But about a 15 minute ride off the backside its EXTREME!

lots of new snow in wells. Wells snowmobile club has shut down gromming as the avey risk is high and they do not advise playing in the backcountry :(

Have done the loop from Pr. George all the way to Likely, and back to PG.

It was a great time.

Have fun on your trip.
