If you go to walmart they have a line called athletic works. They have quick drying micro fleece pants and sweaters, as well as lycra pants and shirts for base and mid layers. They are $14 a piece. So for the price of one item from a snowmobile clothing company you can get 2 full layers.

i just checked klim and their base stuff is about 50 bucks for the shirt and 50 bucks for the pants, and $119 for fleece jackets and $109 for fleece pants......

I got the same set up other than my fleece sweater is a pull over for $62 where from klim it would be $328 and probably made in the same Chinese factory

Costco has some cheap merino wool too.

X2...i picked up a set in the GP Cosco in the summer. Works great (just tried out top as a shirt in the cool fall weather) i think the top was $25 and bottom $20. The label is Paradox.

What about running base layers of labled under armor? Is this product acceptable in the mountains?

Yeah I have had no complaints with the Paradox Costco stuff either. It has held up as good as my North Face stuff and Mountain Hardwear stuff.

I will be using my running gear for base layers. If it works running in -20c with a -10c wind chill (ran the hypothetic half marathon a few years back in these conditions) I'm sure it will be more than ample for sledding, probably better.

been rocking the costco paradox stuff since i got into the sport 4 years ago and love it!! for the price i have 3 sets just for spares and loners. only other thing i wear is under armor dry skin and im 100% dry all the time. when you think about it its not a lot to go into the crap so im sure kilm isnt lightyears ahead of paradox stuff. at least for this simple stuff.
