A truck is a truck you want fuel milage buy a jetta. It's pretty hard to get HP and fuel milage together. I will give the cummins 2 thumbs up good motor to bad the polution got in the way and screwed up the milage.

And yes I know a Jetta is not a truck.

05 Ford 6.0 studded no egr and 60hp chip getting 21mpg empty at old man speed
getting 10mpg driven like a young man goin for condoms pullin the sled trailer but who cares when your goin sledin LOL.

Personal perfrence man. I think they all have there good and bad points. I'm on my 5th GM and i have never had a major problem with any of them and i put on 60,000+ km's/year. I really like my 2010 gmc SLE 2500hd 6.0L but there are a few creature comforts that i miss from my 2007 chevy 1500 the biggest being the auto 4x4 feature. My new truck has traction control and its horrible IMO. I wanted to try a different brand but with having such good luck with GM i decided to stick with what i know. Get what you want and don't worry about what other people say, they all kick azz till they break then they become a POS.

Our 04 1500 Hemi Dodge 5.7 gets 11mpg, its brutal, and our megacab 2005 1500 5.7 gets the same.

Read title "2010 ram", not 05 or 04

I like the new Dodges, think they are a nice looking truck,,,,But i don't know about the rear coil springs,,Anyone know if they handle weight good or not?
The 3/4 and 1 tons still have leafs obviously but for a half ton to use coils again is weird.
back in the 70's it was common but this day an age i think it is strange.

Any thoughts

What trucks had rear coils ?

What kind of mileage are the new trucks getting ?

Anyone know about the smaller Dodge motors ?

The new Dodge 1500's all have rear coil suspensions. They are rated 200lbs heavier than the previous models with leafs. I don't know about the mileage...read Modman's experiences...sounds fine to me. The smaller Dodge engines get poor reviews in every on-line publication I read. Get the Hemi or don't get one.

I test drove a 2011 Dodge 1500 the other day and really liked it. I had great luck with my 06 GM and was on the fence about getting a new GM or a new Dodge. Went with the GM for 3 reasons:
  • it's what I know and I know what to expect...the 5.3's are bulletproof, I am ot 172,000km on my 06 and on original brakes and no major repairs.
  • mileage...I know what I got with my 06...the new one will be better with the 6 speed
  • salesmanship....the Dodge salesman pissed me off when he offered me 4 grand less than every other dealship for my trade.

Kind of amazing what a shoddy dealer can do to a deal. Encountered something similar when I bought my last truck. Guy wouldn't budge on pricing, so I went elsewhere, and got the pricing I needed. Bear in mind this was a cash deal, no financing to speak of.

You can talk brand loyalty all day, but if the truth was told, I bet 90% of us here drive what we do for these reasons...

Driven Dodge for over 15 year, for both me and my wife. Just bought my first Ford...

I just finished renting a 2010 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 after getting rear eneded/writing my truck off a month ago. I liked the ride of the dodge, the power, the handeling was fine I guess, and the mileage was the same as my 08 GMC with a 5.3. The thing I hated about the dodge was the feeling I got when driving it and looking at it before I got in it to drive it. I ended up replacing it with another 08 GM and couldn't be happier, except when i want to accelerate gently I still have to almost floor the peddel to get it to do anything. I can't wait to get the same truck again in 2 years exept i'll get the 6.2/6 speed.

The thing i find about the GM trucks is that they are boring as hell. They have boing looks, boring plain plastic interiors, the new trucks are a huge jump over the 99-06s but still not comparable to the new fords and dodges. My main complaints with the gm were power, cab size, and looks, and the dodge full fills these issues..... Oh and another thing is, gms LEVELED barley fit 33s, a dodge leveled will fit 35s.

To be fair if anyone is looking for a gm get the 09+ with the new tranny, the 4 speed in my 08 was a doggy POS. If you like the looks and want a reliable great mileage truck buy it but it just wasnt for me. Only Mechanical issues with the truck were two door locks stopped working so nothing major other than if you have to replace a door lock module every year is annoying.......

All i know when test driving the dodge i was loving every minute of it and in the 6.2L gm i felt just as board as my 08 other than it was faster.

Well...I'd say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My opinion is that the GM's are the best looking and have the nicest interiors. As far as the performance....well, "boring" is kinda being mean, but it's definately not a hemi. LOL. Not all of us want to lift our trucks and put ugly mud tires on them either....some of us just use them to commute on the pavement and like the security of 4 wheel drive in the winter.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts... except I like the looks of the Chevy's too, but the Fords are ugly. I look forward to driving my truck and I find my brothers Chevy boring to drive.

wow downgrading chev is the cadillac of trucks dodge is only good in diesel form and in the 5.9 there gas motors and so called HEMIs are way overrated in power my 09 titan with an intake and supposedly only 317 hp walked all over a 2010 reg cab short box hemi. if u want a truck with good resale value solid quality buy a chev. I can speak from experience on the resale value as I'am an auto dealer I can go get a 2007 full load cummins out of the auction with 78,000 miles on it for under $22000 you can not find that duramax for anything under $28000 canadian the chevs hold there value better than the ford, and dodges if your gonna buy a half ton go nissan or toyota they actually make a decent truck not an overated underpowered POS like the domestic half tons are these days. I would go with the new 6.2 chev any day over a hemi

i dont know were you are getting the power issues ford and dodge are the most famous for completely overrating there horsepower numbers. ya they can put a 35 on with a levelling kit but why pay that much more money on tires for a whopping 1.5 inch difference in height besides big tires take your mileage and power throw them out the window then add more issues with ball joints and other front end issues. I can take a chev put a levelling kit on and do 35's as well all i have to do is minor trimming big deal!!! the only dodge i would ever own is a 5.9 cummins I have seen to many HEMI's fail for me to justify ever buying one in my life. But i do love how dodge tried to copy chevs allison and failed cause that new tranny in there cummins sucks the big one

LOL - 09 Nissan Titan curbweight of 5300 lbs, Dodge Ram 4500 lbs.

800 lbs heavier and almost 90 HP less and you walked all over him? Was he racing you in ECO mode or how "not stock" is your truck?

My '10 with minor stuff wastes my buddies '04 SS pickup with an all aluminum block LS motor.... but sure, some stocker Nissan tank could probably get past me... LOL

Thats a nice truck Dave b.......are those side steps chevys or aftermarket...I like em.

The side step deals are part of the GFX package. The box rails, different gauges, different headrests, carbon fibre look dash inlays, and huge gaudy stickers are the rest of the package....I had the decals removed. LOL.

I've seen 1 bad Hemi engine and that was a company truck that was driven to the max, they are bulletproof!

Back to post... That truck looks sharp!
