Is it possible to change the sliders in an 05 summit without removing the track, I have never changed a set of sliders and hope that there is an easy way?????????

You do not have to remove the track from the sled, but you will probably have to remove the rear suspension skid(complete ass'y with shocks, arms, rails etc..), but the good news is like everyone else has said, there is only 4 bolts holding it in.... Just loose the two rear axle bolts(inside the wheels), and then loosen the adjusters as far as possible(till the rear axle is loosened to the point it wont move forward anymore), then supporting the sled on a bumper stand or the sled on its side, you can undo all 4 skid bolts(2 on side of tunnel close to the footwell, and the other 2 just underneath the tunnel about 2/3 the way back) and then work the skid out(seems to hang up on everything, but it will eventually come out)...... You don't have to touch the drive axle or chaincase at all.......... However, since you just bought it, you might consider servicing the chaincase too..... Use synthetic chaincase oil...... There is a drain plug underneath the chaincase, so you can drain it, however might be a good idea to take the chaincase cover off and check the lower bolt torque..... These bolts have a habbit of backing off, and then serious damage can occur(i've seen it)........... Good luck!

I changed mine on my 06 RT this spring and was able to pull the slider right out thru the slots in the track. I just lifted the rear end up to take the weight off, and they slid right out after loosening off those four bolts.

I'd try that first, on my Poo you can just tap the sliders out through the track windows...a little trick, spray some WD40 on the rails before re-installing them, they slide on much easier then.

Make sure you have a good look at the chain as well. if it's only the 13 wide my guess is you'll find some broken links. Good time to upgrade to a 15 wide chain.

On the rev summits, the sliders won't come out through the track without removing the skid.... I just tried my old sliders through the track, but its too tight........ Unless you really force it!!!!!!!!!!!

i also change mine like that, way easier than droping the suspension. also check the rubbers on the front of your rails for wear

Pick two track windows and trim them out so the slider will fit through the window. I had to do this when I was in a rush to get the sliders changed out for a spring trip. I trimmed the window with a sharp knife and finished it of with a Dremel tool to sort of melt the rubber so that the cuts I made would not spread. This was a few years ago I have used these windows to change sliders since. It's a bit of a cheat but it works when you are short on time.

you dont have to drop the skid to change the sliders guys
as brew_ doo mentioned, line up the windows on the track to the sliders as best you can
trim the two windows (its only like a tiny bit, you will never notice it)
there are two set screws at the front of the rails..loosen them out then tap the sliders through thr track windows...done (ensure that you have the sled off the track to take the weight off of it)

repeat for the other side...and like also mentioned above, put some grease on the new slider to tap it back on...its really quite easy

no dropping the skid, no losening the track nothing

have fun
