Chains for snow on 2x4?

I just picked up a 1990 Bayou 220 2x4.

Would like to head out, the rear tires are not in great shape and my new ones are on order.

Should I pick up some chains for them? Will it help in the snow?

Pickup a tow rope also.... You will need it !

Yep, any deep snow and that 2wd will suck. I gave up on my sons polaris for winter riding. Take a buddy with a 4x4 with you and make sure you both don't get stuck.

IT WILL MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN ICY CONDITIONS AND SHALLOW SNOW BUT THE ONLY THING THAT WILL HELP A TWO WHEEL DRIVE IN DEEP SNOW ASIDE FROM TURNING IT INTO A 4X4 IS PICKING UP A SET OF SAND PADDLES.

Yeah, I figured I have to stay out of the deep snow. Have to find some packed trails to hit I think, then I should be ok.

I was able to get the mudlite tires brought in before the weekend, so I am going to try them before getting chains, because the chains were special order for a 22" tire.

most of the snows melted .. get some chains to bite the bottom and you can do pretty good .. i was 2wd ing around on my grizzly. it spins more but the only time i had any problems was climbing a steep hill in 2wd.. steep as in the old Whitecourt ski hill with 2ft of snow on it . if you don't try to do anything crazy you will fair alright.. spin a little more but it will go.

I run most of the time in 2wd when it get deep or hills it's 4wd. I rode with sport bikes in winter it was a bit of pain due to clearance more than anything just mount a bumper or bar to the back af the quad so the big boys can just drive up and give you a shove

I have the front and back racks installed on the quad, I was thinking to split some sprinkler hose and install some on the racks so they can give me a shove without scratching their expensive 4x4s.
