Looks like there is a nice tree in the back to chain the dog to, Save a whole bunch of cash. Or better yet, put up a clothesline from the deck to the back of the yard, clip a long lead to the clothesline and the dog has the run of the yard with much less chance of getting wrapped around stuff. Makes it hard to get away from coyotes though.

Well...... now back to chainlink fence's  Because I am on the edge of the city, I have had deer, rabbits, other dog's and coyotes standing in the middle of the yard. So the electric fence is a great idea to keep TJ in, but doesn't keep anything out :(

yes to both kinds....lol.

we had a pretty dry summer here the first year we moved out to the farm, a lot of bears came through the yard while following the creek and must have smelled the garbage in the dumpster. we just had a little terrier/poodle cross inside dog, the wife let him out one morning and didn't see the bear that was 20' from the steps up onto the deck. she noticed it when she closed the door and looked outside through the window, the little dog was just watching it until Lori opened the door in a panic to call him back in. well, as soon as "mom" came outside the little runt turned into a rottweiler or something and snapped....flew off the deck barking like crazy and the bear turned tail and started running, runt dog hot on it's heels. wife was screaming at the dog, dog wasn't listening....finally the dog came back and I was told "build a fawking fence!!". she was pregnant with our first boy at the time, I knew not to argue....

what made me decide to go with chain link was an experience a few years earlier....I was on the Goodwin forestry road and a black bear was crossing the road in front of me right by the Goodwin hall, so I laid on the air horn. the bear freaked out and ran headlong into the chainlink fence around the hall at full speed....he tried to get through the fence and went along it trying to get thru until he hit a telephone pedestal box, and had a fight with it briefly....being the dick that I am, I had slowed down and kept laying on the horn...never seen a bear flip out like he was on the box and the fence. but he never got through it.

So I have'nt done anything yet, other than asking this guy if he still has everything 500" Chain Link Fence - Edmonton Home/Garden Items For Sale - Kijiji Edmonton Canada.

I just re-measured my entire yard, and I'm a 540 LF minus 2-6' and 2-12' gates. Which leaves me at 492 LF.
So if I do go this route, yes...... maxwell, I will need a good surveyor   :D As well as get my permission's from the neighbors and City.

didn't read the whole thread... but are you gonna get the neighbours to help with the cost?

I haven't asked any of them yet, but when I decide what I am doing. I'll ask if their interested, if not..... I'll just do it myself, and see what happens from there???

That was pricing out 500 LF, 2-4', 2-6', and 2-12' gates

So I went back today, 342 LF, 1-3', 1-4', and 2-6' gates. Everything said and done is 3 grand, I have been pricing out used chain and poles. For what I need and that's still close to 2 G's, than plus all of the hardware on top of that. So really i don't think I'd be that much further ahead buying used???
