Can anyone tell me whether the warmup shack at etherington is open? The one just beyond the parking lot on the left. I'm hoping to take the family out there on sat and was hoping to use it to warmup/cook weenies.

Thanks,

Shawn

There was some pepole in it a couple of weeks ago so i think it should be open. The one at the cattaract parking lot is open as well.

We've been out a couple times this year with the kids on their 120. I think it's always open. Great spot for a family day. Enjoy.

It's always open but bring some firewood. There is none supplied. If you're lucky there is some left from whoever used it last but don't count on it.

I always bring wood, there's nothing I hate more than wet or punky wood!

It was skinny out there on the weekend. We rode from Etherington to Rasberry over to Cataract trail then up to Etherington trail and back to Etherington camp ground. Rasberry trail was smooth with light snow on the trail. Cataract was icy and windswept with some dirt sections and some 2ft hard packed wind drifts. The north end of Etherington trail as it dropped into Etherington drainage was rough with mogels.

Good day of riding though, got 38kms on the new Phazer and a half dozen wheelies!

There were a lot of trucks in the parking lot but we didn't see anyone one on the trails - did everone go over the pass?

I packed my wood out there but forgot my ax so thanks to who ever left some kindling in the shack!

Was there saturday, feb.14th in the afternoon.
There was only about 2" of fresh snow. The trails are in good shape, but there are a few ice flows and some bare spots.

Yes we tried to get into Cataract Creek. Did not make it to much snow on road.IMO. There were a few trucks that may have got in. I know people streach the truth on snow depths. But I think this was a honest 2 feet of snow on the road only half way to cataract.........Crazy. We only did some ditch pounding.Wish we would have gone the whole way. Need more plow drivers lol

Ohhh, we got in alright....!!! I broke trail on the road with about 4 rigs following me. I had snow over my bumper most of the way (~25km), and over the hood of my truck some of the way. Had to stop a few times just clear it off the hood of the truck it was so deep. Hit some huge drifts, it was awesome!! It was certainly the most interesting drive into Etherington I have ever done.

And when we got in, there was more snow on the road than on the Northern part of the trail system. Sooo, we headed over Fording into BC, and thats where it got really DEEP!!! I think some of the other guys got pics, not me, to busy riding!!

Yeah, I was the next truck in line after the 3 rigs that turned back and went to MacLean. We saw you guys unloading in buddys yard, we though maybe you would have followed too, but it looks like (from the pictures, and all the tracks we saw) you guy had fun in the ditches anyways.

from what i've been hearing, if you are into trail riding, ride the trails on the south end of the system. i believe thats where the picture above where taken.
