Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
I think it's humorous that while Doo is successfully chasing away their lifelong customers, Poo and Cat are welcoming them with open arms and enjoying the nice uptick in market share.
It's just an observation of a funny situation-
1. While Doo is busy arguing with customers about who is gonna pay for a $10 motor mount on a $17,000 two year old sled w/four year warranty(paid for by the customer) Cat and Poo are busy developing new tech and surpassing Doo.
2. The warranty process, aka "start a case file" with Doo somewhat resembles a criminal record background check combined with the bureaucracy and inefficiency of a large government agency.
This isn't a rant or soapbox thing, it just makes one think, "why would a company do this to it's loyal customers?"

I made the switch three years ago, I'm trying to figure out why I didn't do it years ago. Left Doo for Cat due to attitude of local dealers and lack of interest in the brand. I still love my daughters old late 90's S-chassis sleds but the newer Doo's don't feel right to me anymore. I love my Cat and my dealer, They make all the difference in the world to me.

Manufactures all seem to do it . Get good market share and then start thinking they don’t need to look after the consumer that got them there .
Cut corners , deny warranty and increase price and think the consumer won’t change ??

It has been like this from the get go. Nothing has changed. Find a good dealer and don't dick him around. Support him and don't expect him to be able to beat up the OEM. Dealers have trouble with the OEM also and many times they are shaking their heads in the way in which the OEM handles apparent warranty claims.

IMHO, too many people are asking too much from dealers and the OEM's. I think a lot of the supposed claims are operator abuse with fantasized stories or happenings. Just my opinion and I will still drive 3 1/2 to 4 hours for my good dealer.

sorry i must have missed something.

what new technology are cat and Polaris developing?

first altitude compensating mountain sled? oh wait nope

first direct injected engine? oh wait nope

first mountain specific skidframe? oh wait nope

first 3" track on a mountain sled? oh wait nope

first 174 inch track on a mountain sled? oh wait nope

first 850cc engine? oh wait nope

first electric start without a battery or starter? oh wait nope

skidoo has always been leading the industry in development. in 2008 and 2017 there were SOME issues. remember the only sleds that have issues your going to hear about that on the internet. no one will say how flawless their machine runs.

if you think the new wobble cat or polaris 849 arent going to have issues your sadly mistaken.

where was polaris with the liberty 800? LOL

I know your posts are often to stir the pot and generate some laughs, but you couldnt be more bang on with this. My last 20 sleds (at least) have been doos and if I buy another one I am gonna take a serious look at the new cats. Just tired of skidoos BS. And I dont think the problems people are having are the issue....its the way that doo deals with it in the typical BS doo way. Deny, deny, deny. Just stand behind your customers! If a sled has blown 3 belts in the first xxx kms, its not your customers fault! Pay for the damn belts and get the sled to stop doing it! Just acknowledge that with innovation comes some bugs and do the best to stand behind the people dishing out 20k of their hard earned money for these things. The potential issues of the G4 doesnt make me hesitant to buy one......its knowing that there is a good chance of being hung out to dry by doo if I did have issues that does.

Lots of holes in your argument, but you get props for being loyal, but just ask any Oiler fan, being loyal stinks after awhile lol

sorry i must have missed something.

what new technology are cat and Polaris developing?

first altitude compensating mountain sled? While Doo was trying to figure out DPM for carbs, both Polaris and Cat were already running EFI models with "altitude compensation"

first direct injected engine? While not the first direct injection, Polaris beat Doo by how many years with the '91 Indy EFI? Then Cat

first mountain specific skidframe? Still awaiting a mountain specific Doo chassis but they make nice trail machines.

first 3" track on a mountain sled? I guess if you can't beat them with technology, offer something the aftermarket already offered.

first 174 inch track on a mountain sled? See above

first 850cc engine? sorry but offering something less than someone before is winning? Thundercat 900 beat you by 50cc and by 24 years?

first electric start without a battery or starter? Shot is nice, not new tech, just first to offer it in a snowmobile +1 for Doo.

skidoo has always been leading the industry in development. in 2008 and 2017, and dont forget 2004-2008 SDI's, there were SOME issues. remember the only sleds that have issues your going to hear about that on the internet but the internet didn't exist in 2004. no one will say how flawless their machine runs, well, unless you ride a new Polaris or Cat.

if you think the new wobble cat or polaris 849 arent going to have issues your sadly mistaken.

where was polaris with the liberty 800? But had the best mountain chassis available LOL

Fixed

You beat me to it. I believe cat was the first with the “ wishbone” front suspension when polaris and doo were still using trailering arms.

Seems as if back east is buying summits for trail riding and off trail use. There was never a mtn specific chassis.

Seeing pics of 174’s back home being rode on trails I rode with a 121 1/2” 20 years ago, is humorous to me.

Well said, right now Im in the market for a new sled. I was on polaris 20 years ago And I dunno what route to go this time. I think 2019 will be a great year for all brands, but past history and investing the 20g mentioned on a machine that may have no warranty support on certain things makes me wonder, the dealer can only do so much.

I didn't go ski-doo because of "what-ifs" I don't want to buy a sled that I could not trust,...So I got a new Polaris why,.. because Ski-doo couldn't supply a 4yr warranty on a sled even they could't reply on. I can always sell the Polaris with remaining warranty if I'm not happy.

Even with all the online banter from the likes of kane and chuk I'm still buying a Doo for 2020. In all the years I've never been let down by there product and have had great local dealer support. Why would I jump ship? I'm familiar with them by design and have all the tooling for the maintenance end of it. ( new brand means new everything). Never have been that pissed at a brand to throw all that out the window and start over from scratch. I'll never say never, however in motocross I've move from Team red for many years to team blue and never been happier. This season will be interesting due to the Poo 850 and the Alpha. Looking forward to seeing the other brands turn out in numbers finally.

I said it before and I'll say it again - I believe doo will be fixed for 2019.
This will be a great winter for testing new iron regardless of brand.
You don't need to wait to 2020.
It's just fun twisting Dooers
Doolaid vs facts
