It is not listed on the trail closures yet but with the plans for a wilderness park it most likely will be soon. You can be sure CPAWS will be lobbying hard for closures in it as well as the new provincial park that is to be on the south side of highway 3.

so nothing we can do?

At this time no. Is out of our hands. Its all up to Shannon Phillips now. Closed meetings are being held as we speak but from what I have heard it will be a non motorized park like all the rest or maybe it wont. My guess that if any motorized it will be small.

Quad squad put a pile of bridges in there hope they get them back or compensated.

Lots happeneing in the south country. Porquipine Hills and soon Livingstone area all the way up to the bottom of K country.

Talk to you MLA. Tell them what your concerns are. Like always we get interested when its to late. Write letters go see your government guys that you may know it all helps.
Lets hope the talks goes good and we can hold out on some riding areas. Maybe snow vehicle areas because they (team green and NDP) hates OHVs. Way to green of a government party no balanced decision just eliminate motorized

Turning that area into a park will affect other users beside the motor crowd. They have already made it more difficult to go pick huckleberries by taking out the bridge at the skihill. Now only people with quads or sidebysides can head into the middle kootenay pass area. Some say walk but it is a long ways to go especially for the older crowd. If they follow other park rules that you cannot pick flowers in a park then it follows that people will no longer be able to pick huckleberries.

Was reading on the AO forum that there will be an announcement tomorrow Jan. 20 , 2017 in Pincher Creek at 11 a.m. on the plans for the future of the Castle. it seems like almost a secret meeting place to make the announcement but then that is our government.

Any responsible, back country user who does not want to lose access to an area 3x the size of Waterton National Park needs to get informed. Make yourself present at the Kootenay Brown Museum, at 11am tomorrow, to send a message to Notley that we do not agree with her terms for the Provincial Park. Quadders, Snowmobilers, ranchers with cattle grazing rights, campers, hikers, hunters, fishers are all affected by this proposal that is now (secretly) one step closer to becoming law.

Not Sure
Security wouldn't let people in that were not asked to attend the public announcment. A few got in and heckled her.
