All sites have disposal wells. Its usually produced water thats reinjected into the ground.

Isn't the plan to put back in the ground what came from the ground? As long as it's done correctly e.g. deep enough, I see no problem.

I think some of the concern and debates on Renewables comes back to understanding how much Energy was used in manufacturing, how much Energy was created and what Energy is required for recycling or disposal.. For some sources its too early to tell.
Turbines will have a lifespan and need to be recycled. Aluminum ones will be able to be shredded or whatever.
Hydro is considered a renewable. What would the disposal cost and how much Energy would be required for the decommissioning of a power dam in BC...
Lithium mining and Battery recylcing we haven't got there yet..
Solar Panels i don't know.

Oil and Gas - with the depressed Canadian Gas markets, the orphan well count has surged and millions of dollars and lots of Energy will be required to abandon wells and decommission sites and facilities..

What's the right answer for power?.?. We live in an era of "Skip the dishes" No cooking or cleaning, just enjoy the meal....
