Caribou Closures are in effect Jan.1/19 inclusive through Apr. 15/19. That means those areas are open to ride again on Apr. 16/19
Read more here about the closures and where to find closure maps and additional info here

There is no reason what so ever for anyone to ride in a closure area.

With the province facing additional closures to snowmobiling we all need to be backcountry stewards.
Enforcement will be increased, fines have been increased, Control and Enforcement officers can impound your machine and or your vehicle.

It is your responsibility to know the closure boundaries if you are riding these areas.

A rider does not have to be ticketed for it to be an infraction. A picture of tracks in a closed area is all it takes.
Enforcement officers are not only on the snow they are in the air.

We can not stress the importance of everyone complying, the future of being able to ride these areas in the future depends on you.

When does caribou basin up north open again? A neighbour thought it was open on weekends for March?

You can read more about the closures in the Revelstoke area here http://revelstokesnowmobileclub.com/wildlife/

Ten yrs ago before our last go round with a study and additional closures for mtn.
Caribou in the Revelstoke area you were allowed to ride Caribou Basin on the wknds. during closure periods.
We lost 70% of the riding area to the N of Revelstoke that go round.

10 years ago! wow time flies I stand corrected,,,, Always liked Caribou
I remember riding back there on old phazer 485s back in the 90s and you could go anytime then. I lost a tooth back in the area thanks to a steel mountain bar.
I literally remember seeing a herd of probably 70 Cariboo. We were on the sleds and 2 or 3 gus screwing around in the trees. They stood there not 50 yards away just looking around. Bedded down. We headed back further into the area. They literally walked in the sled tracks all the way to the back bowl. I'll never understand the idea that these areas are shut down cause the sleds bother them. If that's the case shut down Banff cause the elk are disturbed by Asians with dslr cameras.
